Hearing Loss Association of America NYC Chapter 11.05.2021

Love this story about how captioning benefits people who don't have hearing loss -- as well as the rest of us. Similar to the way ramps benefit people with strollers or shopping carts as well as those in wheelchairs.

On New Year's Eve, the Metropolitan Opera is hosting a gala online event, open to the public, tickets $20. https://metstarslive.brightcove-services.com/ Jerry Bergman, an opera lover, responded to the announcement with this email. Thanks Jerry. Dear Sir or Madam,... My wife and I have been Met Opera Supporting Members for many years. We recently purchased tickets to the online New Year’s Eve Gala. Can you assure me that the dialogue will be presented with closed captions for those of us who have a hearing disability? What virtual streaming platform are you using? Most of them allow viewing online with captions - providing, perhaps, that the host enables the captioning function. I am concerned because I just tried to watch your recorded Opera Gala Preview with four of the stars and Peter Gelb. I could not find any way to access the captioning function.
