For the sake of experiencing something hopeful and heart-centered ...

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day A trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate way to BEGIN talking to young kids about the true history of America and the importance of honoring the Native peoples that it first belonged to. We cannot undo what was done, but we can educate our kids, tell the real story and allow Native people the space to heal, 500 years later. By teaching our youth now, we are creating change for all future generations. Change begins at home. Change is only possible if we impact our own spaces. We know that navigating anxiety as a kid is difficult enough under normal circumstances. It challenges self-perception, esteem, identity and worth. If not understood, it can pose harmful effects on development, personality and meaningful relationships. This year has amplified that for so many kids. Mental health is the MOST important issue. More important than the homework, the tests and the pressure. This is not a normal school year and it’s important to remember that ki...ds cannot learn and thrive if their mental health needs are not being acknowledged, heard, addressed and supported... first. Every kid, every color, every orientation, every faith, everyday.
