At Her Justice, over 80% of our clients have experienced intimate partner violence, and sexual assault is one of its most common forms. These experiences are hard for all women to share, but for the 90% of our clients who are women of color, their stories of sexual violence are often silenced or ridiculed due to racial and cultural bias, impeding their ability to voice their truth and access the justice they deserve. Earlier this year, the National Women’s Law Center joined M...e Too International and the TIME’S UP Foundation to launch We, As Ourselves, a campaign working to change the narrative around sexual violence and its impact on Black communities. Join Her Justice Executive Director, Amy Barasch, and President and CEO of the National Women's Law Center, Fatima Goss Graves for a conversation about the importance of lifting up the voices of survivors and how we can break down the barriers that harm and silence them. Tune in on Wednesday HERE on Facebook Live or at this link: https://herjustice.org/justice-talks/

It is a dangerous myth that sexual assault only happens between strangers. The reality is that 8 out of 10 individuals who have reported experiencing sexual violence report that the offender was someone they knew, and for many women, the offender was their partner. At Her Justice, we know that healing from sexual assault looks different for everyone. If you need resources or support, please visit@nsvrc.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The theme for #SAAM2021 is "We can build safe online spaces". This month is just as much about spreading awareness about this critical issue as much as it is about honoring and supporting survivors. Throughout #SAAM2021 we'll be highlighting the issue of online harassment and abuse and sharing ways we can prevent it and help in the healing process from it. Swipe for resources for survivors!
