It is with heavy hearts & sadness that we hear of Mattie's passing this morning. Our condolences go to his family and friends who cared and supported him throu...gh-out his illness. Thank you to all his extended family at Hiawatha's Martial Arts & beyond who helped make his life more comfortable while he battled his cancer. Those we love don't go away. They stay beside us everyday.... unseen, unheard, but always near. Still Loved, Still Missed and Very Dear! Peace & Love Mattie! from your friends and family at HMA, you were a Warrior to the end! Congratulations on the success of your first in house tournament, on Sat. May 17, 2014! Like martial artists, when the tournament your school planned to attend was cancelled, you countered, creating a tournament for the students, at their own academy! Saturday was a success for instructors, staff, supportive families and dedicated students alike. As always, you made it happen for the kids! Concern that each student felt validated, worthy & successful was accomplished through exhaustive planning, communication and organization, tweaked on the fly, to include the greatest number of students, on a busy weekend. Your preparation classes for volunteer judges gave family members a chance to participate as well. Inclusion and pride were palpable.
