Good afternoon, On behalf of Ronald McDonald House New York, we hope you and your families are safe during this difficult time. We thank you for your support of the House through the Hibernia Golf Classic each year and wanted to share the following information with you. In the midst of all of the uncertainty swirling around the COVID19 outbreak, the families staying with the Ronald McDonald House New York are able to rely upon us. We provide them and their children battling... pediatric cancer with vitally important temporary housing and important services as they receive treatment even while the shelter in place order is our shared reality. At this time, we are taking proactive steps to protect the vulnerable population we serve. Our families are safe within their rooms, and for their protection all communal spaces within the House have been closed. To supplement the closure of these spaces, our team is delivering individual to-go breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as wellness and kid-friendly care program packages to each family’s room. On Thursdays we even provide a special treat like cupcakes. We’d like to share a note that we received from Michelle & her son William, who have been staying at the House during the shelter in place order. You guys have done an amazing job in providing us with food and other goodies during our stay. I know it’s hard and unprecedented, but you have done a tremendous job. Just know that the guests here appreciate everything you are all doing to take care of everyone. This is not what you signed up for- but you all have really stepped up to the challenge. We can’t thank you enough!" As you can imagine there are expenses that we could never have imagined in this heightened care for our families, and feeding our families in the manner necessary has been estimated at $7,000 per week. During these uncertain times, we find comfort knowing there are dedicated supporters like you on whom we can depend. Our families tell us that they are inspired by the compassion and tireless support of our entire community. With your help targeted to feeding our families, we can continue to keep families together and safe in this emergency near the critical care their child needs.
