Hillside Cemetery

But I do not approve. More precious was the light in your eyes than all the roses in the world. Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind; Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave. I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

Office hours at the cemetery are 8 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. The office is generally closed 12-1 for lunch. If you need service, including graves sales, genealogical research, or finding a grave, it is best to call and make an appointment. 914-737-2929. The office manager is the only person in the office most days. Likewise, if you call and get the answering machine, leave a message!

We relate with deep sadness the passing of Doris M. Smith last Saturday. Doris began work at Hillside in the early 1970s and served as office manager until her retirement just 4 years ago, at age 90. Thank you for your work, Doris, and for your service to so many Peekskill area families over 40 plus years.

I haven't posted recently about Hillside, but I wanted to share this story about something that happened in an English cemetery.

We extend our thanks to our members across New York for what you do every day. We enter one of the busiest weekends for our places of memories, honor and art. Thank you for all you do to serve the families that have put their trust in us.
