The goal of our latest project was to find opportunities for improving rural-urban linkages. But, we spent a lot of time just figuring out HOW to answer that question...how can we improve something when we don't really know how to talk about it or measure it? Read about our approach in blog post #2.

When we talk about rural and urban areas, we tend to focus on our differences--the things that make us unique, or that divide us. We pay less attention to the things that connect rural and urban areas, even though we use and benefit from these connections every day. In our latest Sustainable Communities project, "Country to Capital," we explore connections (or lack thereof) between rural and urban Albany County. With the Carey Institute campus still temporarily closed until we can safely resume in-person activities, we have finally decided to vacate our "main street" taproom. We've had such a blast over the past two years...live music, FOT Fridays, book readings with the Logan Nonfiction Program, and enjoying a beer with our community! We are so looking forward to serving you again at the brewery...someday soon. On the plus side, this gives Kuhar Family Farm more space to work with during the colder months. Stay tuned for their plans. (And, here's a video of Black Mountain Symphony on St. Patrick's Day 2019 in case you've forgotten what live music sounds/feels like).

Just east of Geneva and Seneca Lake in the town of Fayette, Seneca County is Bottomless Brewing. Tom and Carrie renovated a 1950's dairy barn where they now brew NYS beers and serve an all-plant based menu! Check out their website to seem some great photos of the original barn being built: https://bottomlessbrewing.com/our-story/
