It is with great sadness that we announce the death by natural causes of founding member Martha Bixler at the age of 93. Martha has been a key figure in the growth of the American recorder and early music movement since the 1950s. https://historicbrass.org//6561-beloved-member-martha-bixl
I haven't seen it posted here, but longtime HBS friend Martha Bixler passed away a few days ago. Playing sessions will never be the same without her wonderful attitude and love of the music.

Historic Brass Society By-Laws Announcement and Elections Reminder - https://mailchi.mp//hbs-2020-elections-announcement-3277786
The HBS has a need for some extra copies of the HBS Journal vol. 28 (2016) for its archives. If you want to make some space on your bookshelf and can rely on the online list of articles on the HBS website, please send your copy of vol. 28 to: HBS 148 West 23rd Street #5F, New York, NY 10011 USA. The first first 5 people who send in a copy will receive a one-year HBS membership gratis. Thanks!
Our dear Pioneer has left our world. Connie, may you continue to shine for us as an example of standing tall and working with kindness, and may your ideals live on in your students, and in all of us #restinpeace See more
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Historic Brass Society is being restructured with additional opportunities for participation, and elections are scheduled for November of 2020. The Board has been working over the past year to rewrite the By-Laws and promote greater participation among the HBS Membership and provide regular turnover in the senior leadership positions. We will be electing a new Vice President, Secretary and two new members of the Board of ...Directors. Vice President is a new position that is the President Elect, a "President-in-training" position, normally serving a two year term who then automatically succeeds the President for another two year term while training a new Vice President who will succeed him or her. Jeffrey Nussbaum wishes to step down as President at the end of 2021 so the Vice President that we elect this November will serve for a term of only one year before becoming President. A new Vice President will be elected in November of 2021 to serve the normal two-year term. The Secretary is a key position and is responsible for membership management and elections, as well as taking minutes at meetings. The Secretary is also a voting member of the Board. In addition to the elected positions, we also seek members to serve on various committees and staff positions. For more details, please read this document located on our website, and refer to the HBS Leadership and Staff Positions and Committees page on the website for details on leadership, editorial, staff and committee positions. If you are a member interested in participating in any capacity or nominating someone else (must be a member), please contact us at [email protected]. Deadline for nominations for elected positions is October 15, 2020.
