Honeybees X Maple trees! The gals are out and about scrounging for any sugar and protein they can find... including sap from one of our Sugar Maple trees! This time of year, bees and other pollinators get especially creative with their foraging. What's the weirdest thing you've seen a bee eat?

Update from the apiary: some of the hives are bringing pollen in - this means they're slowly waking up from their winter cuddle puddle and venturing out into the early spring world (it also means there's flowers somewhere out there, likely Willow like the ones below!). Pollen is super important for honeybees in the spring, as it helps them build strength after the winter. Update from the Embassy: it's perfectly rainy today, which means perfect weather to light a beeswax candle, pour yourself a cup of tea, and indulge in a sweet treat - all of which can be found in our store, open Friday 12-5 and Saturday 10-4. Swing by and pick up "just the thing" for whatever your weekend holds!

March has us daydreaming about weather that's warm enough for hangin' out with our bee-friends once again! Although it's not quiiiiiite spring yet, you can almost imagine yourself there with a spoonful of our spring honey - that light, floral je ne sais quoi that weaves through varietals like Basswood, Black Locust, and Spring Bloom is intoxicating! Come by the Embassy and scoop some up Friday 12-5 and Saturday 10-4, or stop by the Ithaca Farmers Market at Triphammer Marketplace from 10:30-2 on Saturday. Let's ride out the winter in sweetness :)
