Depression is much more complex than feeling sad. It has a variety of symptoms and often presents in different ways. Regardless of how someone may experience their depression screening is one of the first steps towards receiving care or treatment. So, today and everyday check-in with yourself and check up on your mental health #mentalhealthawareness #NationalDepressionScreeningDay #letsnormalizescreening

This past Sunday marked the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the event that catalyzed the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States, and later inspired #pride events every June. As Pride month comes to a close, we want to shed light on mental health issues affecting LGBTQ people. This year, Pride has taken on a special focus in light of the Black Lives Matter movement. It is well documented that Black youth in general face a variety of challenges from being and feel...ing marginalized, including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. Research also shows that LGBTQ youth are prone to mental health concerns because of the chronic stress of the stigma, rejection and often violence they face on a daily basis, with transgender and non-binary youth at particular risk. Thus, the intersection of identities for LGBTQ youth who are also Black may make them particularly vulnerable to depressive illness, especially if they face inadequate access to culturally appropriate care.

Feeling stressed? You are not alone! Join Heidi Hanna tomorrow for her free Global Stress Summit, an event where mental health experts will talk about how to turn your anxiety into productive action during this unprecedented time. Learn more and register at the link below What is the Global Stress Summit? "Stress has become a buzzword, but most of us don’t really know what it is. According to Dr. Heidi Hanna, the word itself can cause stress just because it’s difficult to... define. We use it as a catchall for anything that feels off in our lives, and by dumping problems into a bucket of stress we leave ourselves feeling overwhelmed and out of control. Stress is simply a stimulus for change, and its impact is based on our ability to effectively adapt. You can make stress your friend with some very simple tools and techniques. And the upcoming Global Stress Summit will tell you how, absolutely free and from the comfort of your own home or office." https://www.globalstresssummit.com/
