It is with a heavy heart that I report the untimely passing of retired police officer Robert (Bull) L. Margeson. Bob honorably served the citizens of Hornell starting in 1990 and retiring in April 2015.Prior to this Bob worked as a patrolman for the village of Alfred for 6 years. Since retiring from Hornell, Bob has continued his police work at the Canisteo Police Department. In all Bob has dedicated over 37 years of his life serving and protecting the citizens in Alfred, Canisteo, and Hornell. In addition to police work Bob helped coach the Alfred University Saxton’s and Alfred State football teams for 29 years. Bob was an avid reader and has written several books. He will be missed by the Hornell community and our prayers go out to him and his family. Chief T.J. Murray Hornell Police Department

Tomorrow will see the officers at the Hornell Police Department clean shaven again. The beard restriction was lifted for December and January to allow officers to grow beards for a donation to our Holiday fundraiser. The Maple City Police Club hopped onboard and matched the donations from our officers. The money raised was dispersed back into the community to several families that may have needed a little help to make their holidays a little brighter!

Whether the forecast calls for a hurricane, tropical storm or just a severe thunderstorm, if you're expecting power outages, remember that dark traffic signals ...should be treated as all-way stops. Drivers should come to a complete stop and take turns proceeding through the intersection. #Isaias See more
