Just a couple days left in our online Sweetheart Auction!

Humane Society of Wayne County 14.12.2020

**** THEY ARE ALL GONE! Thank you from our shelter animals to all who made generous donations! **** Thanks to the generosity of our community, over the past several years, the shelter has amassed an overabundance of pet carriers and crates. Some are scratched, some are dented, and some may be missing a bolt here and there - but they are in usable condition and can still be put to good use.... We have an assortment of both metal and plastic carriers/crates that we would like to make available, as-is, to the public. We ask that you visit during our business hours (Tues - Sat, 10am - 4pm), and we welcome any donation that you feel is appropriate in return. The available crates and carriers are on the right side of our driveway when entering the shelter parking lot. A donation box is located there as well.

Mac is 5 years old, and he weighs about 60 pounds. This active boy is looking for a home without cats or small children. Mac must meet any resident dog(s) in a potential new home to make sure they get along. Here at the shelter, Mac is learning how to sit for treats, and he enjoys playing with his rope toy and spending time in our play yard. * Mac qualifies for the shelter's Adult Companion Program

Humane Society of Wayne County's Annual Pasta Dinner Our annual Pasta Dinner on Saturday, October 17 will look a LOT different this year, but it will still be as yummy and filling as ever, and best of all, you'll be helping support our shelter's animals. Due to on-going pandemic concerns and precautions, we have cancelled the White Elephant Sale portion of this event. Pasta dinners will be available for takeout only. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be avail...able at the shelter through October 8. There will be no tickets available at the door. To make things even easier, tickets can also be obtained by mail - simply send us your check payable to HSWC and let us know your dinner preference (with meat or vegetarian) and your tickets will be mailed to you. Dinners are $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12. Pick up your tickets at the HSWC shelter, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY, 14489 or mail your check to that address for tickets-by-mail. As usual, the dinner will be held at the Palmyra Fire Hall, 615 E Main Street (Route 31) in Palmyra. Dinners will be available for pickup from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. featuring pasta with delicious sauce (with or without meat), salad, Italian bread and a homemade dessert. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Wayne County. We, and all of the animals in our care while they await their forever-homes sincerely thank you for your support! COMPASSION ISN’T CANCELLED and neither is our 2020 Mutt Strut! However, as we continue to work together during this challenging time, we have decided to make our Annual Mutt Strut a VIRTUAL experience. What is a virtual experience?... A virtual walk means that after you fundraise, you get to walk on your own time at your own pace. Walk around the block with friends (social distancing required), in a welcoming park, in your own backyard, or on your own treadmill. While we won’t be walking side-by-side this year, our love of animals will continue to unite us! Much more information will be coming in the next couple of weeks, please watch our website and facebook page for important updates, including the awesome t-shirt design by Will Boydell!

Our sweet gir l Jenny is about 10 years old, and she weighs 45 pounds. Jenny is looking for a home without small children. This smart girl knows how to sit, shake, and lay down for treats. Jenny is choosy about her dog friends, so she must meet any resident dog(s) in a potential new home. She may do best as the only dog in the home. * Special needs - medical waiver required - if you are interested in adopting Jenny please contact the shelter for more info * * Jenny qualifies for the shelter's Adult Companion Program

** IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING OUR UPCOMING EVENTS ** ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE AUGUST 1st, 2020.... The Humane Society of Wayne County Annual Open House slated for August 1st, 2020 has been cancelled. The HSWC made the decision based on a majority vote of its board of directors. "Open House has been an annual favorite in our community; it's been tradition since mid 1990’s," said Mark Plyter, executive director of the HSWC. "The decision to cancel this year's event was incredibly difficult, our priority remains the health and safety of our supporters and staff, as well as continuing to provide critical care for the homeless and abused pets in our community. PASTA DINNER & WHITE ELEPHANT SALE OCTOBER 17th, 2020. The White Elephant Sale has been cancelled, the Annual Past Dinner will be held but will be take-out only. More details will be coming in the coming weeks. Plyter said that he knew the news would be a great disappointment to many who look forward to these events and they represent a meaningful occasion for themselves and their families. Please know we share that disappointment with you, he said. Unfortunately, there are too many unknowns, coupled with recommended restrictions, that significantly limit our ability to put together a successful and meaningful event while guaranteeing your safety from the COVID-19 virus. As we look to the future, we hope you will continue your support of HSWC, with your continued assistance, we will get through this storm together. Our mission is so important and impactful to Wayne County that it must go on, even without some of our fundraising events this year. Please, be safe and stay healthy."
