@autumnsharvestfarm has one of the largest herds of #murraygrey #cows outside of Australia. This breed does particularly well on an all grass diet. These animals spend their entire lives outside grazing on native grasses year in and year out. They never are fed any grains and are 100 percent #grassfinished. Kevin and I have watched Tim and Sarah Haws transform the land through their regenerative farming practices. They are almost entirely off the grid and they are installing 1000 #sparrow nests throughout farm. Sparrows help keep the insect population under control. If you stand in the middle of a paddock you can see hundreds of sparrows diving and eating bugs. It’s quite amazing. #knowyourfarmer#knowyourbutcher

It’s upon us! The #holidaze season. We start taking #thanksgiving order October 1. These #broadbreastedwhite #turkeys raised by @autumnsharvestfarm are percent #pastureraised with no hormones or antibiotics.

We were so thrilled that we had beautiful weather this week to shoot @autumnsharvestfarm farm for our upcoming book with @damienlafargue. I know you have heard Kevin and I talk endlessly about Tim and Sarah Haws from @autumnsharvestfarm but here they are in the flesh with their 3 equally hardworking kids! We are constantly talking about the importance of supporting the local food economy and now we are putting faces to your support. Food industry people work hard but no one ...works as hard as the small farmer. There are no days off. There are animals to feed and rotate on pasture day in and day out. Sick animals need constant care. Farm help is hard to find, so the onus to get it all done falls on the farm owner. We need to remember that #smallbuissnesses aren’t only dry cleaners, restaurants, bars, bookstores and other retails shops but also include #smallfarm like Tim and Sarah’s.
