Humanity in Action is premised on shaping democracy, human rights, and pluralism through both education and action. We implore our network to root ourselves unequivocally against anti-Asian racism and xenophobia of all forms, and to call out moments of hate and injustice when you see them. While the following is not an exhaustive list of resources, we hope it is a start: https://anti-asianviolenceresources.carrd.co... https://aapip.org//a-call-for-solidarity-and-collective-ac https://www.instagram.com//aapi-anti-r/17912804428649090/ https://www.ihollaback.org/bystanderintervention/ Check our Instagram for more resources.
We are in solidarity with the Asian and Pacific Islander community against all forms of anti-Asian racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and violence. Our hearts grow heavier each time we learn of a new act of violence, often targeting the most vulnerable within Asian communities women, elderly, poor and working class, and immigrants. Our deepest condolences go to the victims and their loved ones. We are mourning the victims of the mass murder in Atlanta. We are outraged by the on...going assaults on the streets of New York; the brutal attacks on Asian businesses throughout the West Coast; the violence and pain inflicted on Asians and Asian Americans in too many cities and neighborhoods to name individually. Though anti-Asian racism and xenophobia are now getting mainstream media attention in the United States and elsewhere, we recognize that the affected communities have been victims of racist and xenophobic policies, acts, and interpersonal violence for centuries. It’s nothing new. While thoughts and prayers are not enough, we hope our API community members are getting the rest, the care, and the support needed during these times of immense fear, grief, and anger. Humanity in Action is premised on shaping democracy, human rights, and pluralism through both education and action. We implore our network to root ourselves unequivocally against anti-Asian racism and xenophobia of all forms, and to call out moments of hate and injustice when you see them. *This message has taken a while to craft and share with you all not because of our indifference but because we saw the pain and anxiety inflicted on many of our Fellows, Senior Fellows, board members, and staff. We wanted to respond with care and ensure the Asian and Asian American team members' voices were represented.
Here’s a peak of my pandemic work at The Pope Francis Center, a homeless service provider in Detroit. Alfred Landecker Foundation #wallstreetjournal #homelessoutreach #covid19
On March 16, #LandeckerFellow Roo George-Warren gave a virtual lecture for RISD’s NatureCultureSustainability Studies MA program. Roo discussed the Catawba Nation’s language revitalization initiatives, food sovereignty movements, and vision to provide land-based education for tribal youth. Roo is a citizen of Catawba Nation and a consultant for his tribe on several projects. Watch the full recording here https://bit.ly/3mfu1Md. Alfred Landecker Foundation #indigeous #history #education
