This is most of the team of locals who helped vaccinate 118 hard working neighbors in the service industry, 50+ eligible, and public facing employees. We couldn’t have imagined how smooth today went. Thanks to these amazing volunteers and a shout out to Villa Vosilla & LaDoria Restaurant for being our hosts and making this happen!

For over twenty years The Hunter Foundation has consistently worked to support inclusivity and diversity through our partners, staff, and the projects in which we are involved, evolving as necessary as times have changed. From our dedication to creating and maintaining workforce housing, to helping incubate small businesses with a diverse ownership, to assisting the 23ARTS and Catskill Jazz Factory in bringing countless artists to the region to share their art and experience ...with our community, we have dedicated much of our resources and energy to revitalize an area that had been devastated by an economic downturn and the ills that accompanied it. We stand with Black Lives Matter and we denounce racism in all its forms. The actions taken in changing management at Fromer Market Gardens this week were not in response to anyone’s stated beliefs on personal social media accountsto the contrary, we support the rights of our employees to voice their personal beliefs in a public way on their personal accounts. These actions were unfortunately the result of a violation of clearly stated employment policies, and the use of The Hunter Foundation's social media channels. As a 501 (c) 3 not for profit entity, we must adhere to the rules and procedures that can't be violated. We have worked diligently to foster strong ties across the community we strive to serve, and a key component of that has been educational and school outreach. Fromer Market Gardens is intended to be not only a farm, but a resource for local children to learn about agriculture and the values of stewardship, inclusivity, historical awareness, and citizenship that go with it. Our goal has always been to strengthen and unify our shared community through the results of our work. The past few days, we have received a spectrum of input that we are carefully sifting through and exploring ways to incorporate the best ideas into how we communicate and function. Please know that we will continue to take the necessary steps to evolve as an organization, one that upholds values of inclusivity. To further these stated goals, we welcome your conversation, and will be reaching out to continue this important dialogue and work. Please contact [email protected] to make arrangements for an in-person meeting or phone call.
