You Are Not Forgotten. That is the mantra behind the POW/MIA remembrance movement. Today we remember the tens of thousands of U.S. service members who suffered as prisoners of war and are still missing in action, throughout our U.S. military history. We also remember the families of these service members, who suffer tremendously as well. This day of remembrance began in 1979, when families of more than 2,500 Vietnam War POW/MIAs demanded full accountability for the suff...ering and loss experienced. This day serves as a powerful reminder to all Americans to stand behind those who serve our country and to ensure that we do everything possible to account for service members who never return to our shores. Efforts to find service members who go missing are persistent and so are the memories of these heroes and heroines who so selflessly defended our country over the decades. See more
