The fourth night of our Buffalo Without Borders TO GO series will be served by Al Sultan! Al Sultan is a Mediterranean restaurant focused on serving authentic Yemeni dishes. Besides their delicious and expertly crafted meals, they also have a bakery and market next to their restaurant, stocked full with Middle Eastern goods! Fahmi, the owner of Al Sultan takes great care in sourcing fresh ingredients and using the traditional spices of his country such as curry, cumin, garli...c, and cinnamon to make his signature Yemeni dishes! His best selling dish is his Lamb Haneeth, which happens to be our regular meal option, pictured below! You can try this favorite dish or the vegan dish, Saltah and support our organization's services by purchasing a ticket to our Buffalo Without Borders TO GO event: https://buff.ly/3m5MWZP

"A survey released Tuesday by AAPI Data, a policy and research nonprofit group, showed that Asian Americans have experienced hate incidents at a significantly higher percentage than the general population, but are also among the least likely to say they are very comfortable reporting hate crimes to authorities. Researchers also looked at what other racial groups have been experiencing during the pandemic and beyond. They found that Asian Americans confront similar levels of... hate incidents compared to other minorities. About 27 percent of them reported experiencing verbal or physical abuse or property damage due to their ethnicity. Latinos reported the same rate, but Black Americans reported a higher share at 34 percent." The uptick in violence towards AAPI communities and the continued increase of hate crimes and violence towards all ethnic groups is a continued tragedy in our country. The language we use, the conversations we have, the organizations we support, and the change we call for all impact the safety and wellbeing of our communities.
The second night of our Buffalo Without Borders TO GO series will be served by Sabores de mi Tierra! Sabores de mi Tierra NY In a colorful space on Niagara street, Sabores de mi Tierra , which translates to English as "The Flavors of My Home" is the only restaurant in Buffalo to boast Colombian/ Venezuelan fusion cuisine! Dianna and Edgar, who own Sabores de mi Tierra, say the most exciting part of their job is sharing their culture and cuisine with the community. Colombian... restaurants are almost obsolete in Buffalo, making their restaurant a haven for our Colombian population, who would otherwise have to travel as far as NYC to taste the flavors of their land! Cooking with an abundance of peppers, onions, and garlic, they work to bring the traditional flavors of South America, while adding their own twist! You can try their cuisine and support our organization's services, by purchasing a ticket to our Buffalo Without Borders TO GO event: https://buff.ly/3m5MWZP

Our inspirational quote of the week comes from John F Kennedy, the 35th US President. He presided over the establishment of the Peace Corps and the continuation of the Apollo space program. We hope this quote will encourage you to continue to fight for justice in your own way, remembering that acts of goodness big and small help to make the change we want to see.
