The Dreamers are really just kids, young adults so much like my children. They speak English as eloquently as my boys, they probably like the same hip hop music that’s blasting from my son’s room, just like him they probably go nuts when their baseball or basketball team loses a match. They have dreams to make it, to thrive and succeed, to live the America dream. The only difference between my boys and the the dreamers is a an American birth certificate- my boys have ...it, they don’t. They grew up here but they were not born here. As much as I try to wrap my head around it I can’t see the logic or sense in arguing against DACA. Kids, they were just kids who were brought by their parents to the USA at a very early age, before they even learned to speak their native language, before they learned to read or write it. How can they be at fault for their parents actions? What input did they have on their parents’ decision to cross a border, to enter our country illegally? How can one be responsible and suffer sanctions for something he had absolutely no control over? And they are such fine young adults. I know because I meet them daily. They are ambitious, they want to do well in college, get a decent job, work and contribute. They want to live here because their friends are here, because their past and their future is here, because everything they know is here and nowhere else. Simple as that! and how is it possible that all those policy makers cannot simply see that??? See more

4th of July is not only fireworks and BBQ . It's a celebration of independence and freedom. It is what we frequently take for granted in this county and what's missed in the lives of so many people around the world. It Is the ability to say what we want when we want. It is our freedom to wear what we feel like, a pair of shorts or a hijab. It is the freedom to go to church, to temple, the mosque or nowhere at all. It is the freedom to marry the person we love, regardless of their sex or color. It is the ability to decide how many children we want to have or to abort an undesired pregnancy. It is knowing that no one is better or more deserving and mainly that everyone has the same fair shot at the game! Happy Birthday to the land of the free!
