For all of us who live this life.....

Tahni’s note: First of all, thank you for the tremendous outpouring of prayer and encouragement when I asked you to pray about Josiah’s sleeping and for calm. W...e are starting to see a turnaround! And he wrote this poem this morning, so it is a sign to me that things are flowing again. Praise Jesus!... Language, Mercy, and Newness By Josiah Cullen Tune fast to the farthest music leading us to the language of newness Many ideas fill to the largest margins to tell people to feel life genuinely Run the mental fans to forget the beauty that nags for if onlies Tomorrow oils tomorrow magnificently; today needs nearness to understand Turning faster only plants honest needs into a soil of lack today Heap only vases in the cupboard if flowers are not delivered newly all the time Labor is the name men use to lament tuning to ways to live free Turn in January nagging for the newness of harvest medleys Under most ropes of the giants tied down is the conquerer who gets up Noted in platitudes of capabilities, language needs a magnificent lift Under gaps of beauty, life bursts through in concise direction Turn fallacy upside down and truth right side up Under one gifted Man, negative candles are brought out to the light of day Light of day plenty gallantly gets negative plans trotted out to see Noisy trunks of armor men and women forgot they had are clanging for us Turning made aims to note a target not seen before Efforts to master nagging never never never won one battle in this life Tucked under the newspaper is the Good News delivered each day like fresh manna Stones of ideas incite punishing defending; tones of number 9 fill the air But underneath nearly joyless nature is a nearness to the truth Under the name of beggar is a new seeing man If his beggar robe comes to mean nothing for him Nailing poetic dancing, I am inside of angel feathers, twirling

I absolutely love this!

I love this video! It reminds me so much of Adam when he was little and couldn't speak. We signed to him, and he could sing, but not speak. So we sang and signed to help develop language. Never give up, no matter what it is you're working so hard on.

To the Mama in row 19 I watched you and your husband board the plane with your handsome 20 year old son who had Down syndrome. My insides freaked out when you s...at right in front of me. On a giant plane with hundreds of people.... it was meant to be!! Your son kept turning around and playing with my boy. They were holding hands and making faces to eachother. You tried to distract your boy from "bugging" the people behind you. But then you turned around and saw my 5 year old who also has Down syndrome. Your face lit up!! You started playing with him from between the seats. Asking basic questions about him in broken English. Halfway through the flight my wife brought our 2 year old to me and we swapped kids. When you saw my 'baby' who also has Down syndrome you couldn't contain yourself! You played with him through the seats for a matter of minutes before you were standing up with open arms to take him from me. And with zero hesitation I handed him over. For over half an hour I watched as you sang to him, snuggled him, played little games and loved on him. I watched your son stroke my boys face and give him many kisses on on the cheek. Despite the horrible travel we had prior, and our pure exhaustion, you couldn't wipe the giant smile off my face for anything! As I watched your son my heart soared as I saw my future. And I know as you looked into to the almond eyes of my boys you saw your past. I would never ever just hand one of my kids off to a complete stranger. But you weren't a stranger. Despite never knowing you. Despite your broken English and my zero ability to speak Spanish (unless dos cervezas por favor counts? ). You weren't a stranger. You are family, you are my tribe, you are me. The connection, the understanding and the bond we share because of our journeys. One of my favorite things about parenting our amazing sons. The giant family we automatically joined because of 47 perfect chromosomes. To the Mama in row 19. Thank you Holly Graham

Trust your gut. Doctors can be wrong. Educators can be wrong. Listen to your heart and to your child.

Have been following Clarisa for some tome. I share her video and dad Justin's remarks on how much he is missing her side she suddenly passed away in her sleep last month. This family has great value in what they share about parenting a deaf blind child, as well as the grief and how they're processing their tremendous loss. I hope this little excerpt from their lives blesses you.
