Stretch that Hip Flexor! They are the front part of the thighs at the very top of your hips. These muscles get tight when you have been sitting for long periods of time or it is dependent on your posture such as the anteriorly tilted pelvis. Starting with the basics: a lunge. ... Move your foot farther away from right underneath your knee. Place your fingertips on your hip bones and find the bony point (this known as your ASIS). Think of them as headlights of a car, they should be positioned straight forward. By engaging in your abdominal and glute muscles and slightly move into a lunge. For a deeper stretch, you can bring your opposite arm to the side and bend up and over. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat 3 times repeating on both sides. If you have any pain during these exercises, please give us a call at (929) 295-6566 or email at [email protected]

The point of healing is not to return to a place where everything is perfect. Instead, it is to begin to develop the ability to respond to what’s imperfect. - Brianna Wiest Everyday is an opportunity to grow. Always remember that you are on the right path! During our Pilates Intermediate classes, we often practice the Roll Up. It has been said that one Pilates Roll Up is equal to six regular sit-ups and is much better than crunches for creating a flat stomach. It helps mobilize your spine and strengthen your abdominal muscles, putting them through a wide range of motion. With a slow and attentive pace, you practice the control that is one of the cornerstones of Pilates. Join us on ZOOM this Wednesday at 6 p.m. for our Pilates class with Amarantha Birkel!

Good Morning. The Buddha once said, Those who rejoice in seeing others observe the Way will obtain a great blessing. It is like a lighted torch whose flame can be distributed to ever so many other torches which people may bring along; and therewith they will cook food and dispel darkness, while the original torch itself remains burning ever the same. It is even so with the bliss of the Way. Lighting someone’s candle can be as simple as a sincere smile and kind gesture to... a stranger passing by. Joyful energy is infinite. If you have access to that deep joy within, sharing it with others will only deepen your connection to the source!
