Please feel free to share this with as many people as possible. We do not always know whose lives are being affected by an eating disorder. Eating disorders and other addictive behaviors can be well hidden among highly productive and functional people, and yet these individuals and those closest to them are living their lives in pain and suffering - emotionally, spiritually and physically. Here, Chris explains how a marital intensive specific to the eating disordered client works, as well as dates for an upcoming 3-day intensive workshop. A detailed flier will be posted very soon!

Even trees have scars and yet they continue to grow! Just because something happened a long time ago doesn’t mean it hasn’t stayed with you like a scar. It also doesn’t mean you can walk away from it without working through itsometimes many times over throughout your lifewith God, with a trained counselor, with trusted individuals. * * *... Scarsnoticeable evidence of significant wounds or injuries are not admissions of healing failure. Scars speak to the reality of human woundability not only in our visible, physical selves, but also in our unseen rational, emotional, relational, and spiritual natures. They challenge our longing to control the effects of living in a sin-broken world as, and with, Sin-broken people. Scars call us to more realistic expectations of recovery in the presence of sin. * * * Dr. Sandra Wilson’s book, The World According To Me: recognizing and releasing our illusions of control, addresses how so many of us have yet to fully relinquish childhood magical thinking and survival skills that helped us understand and control our lives. Do you or a loved one suffer from disordered eating patterns? Are you feeling frustrated and hopeless even after traditional therapeutic recovery programs? Are you a family member or spouse who is affected by your loved one’s eating disorder (ED)? * Recidivism among eating disorder patients is high because of the failure to integrate behavior Mgmt. (found in most traditional programs) with trauma and identity resolution. Eating disorders are often a symptom of deeper issues w...ithin a marriage or family dynamic. EDs are associated with childhood trauma / abuse. EDs are a form of PTSD. * There IS hope. We at InterAct ensure a safe, sensitive an custom-tailored reintroduction for patients and all family members involved. The goal is not merely familial and marital stabilization, but transformation by helping marriages and families transcend unrelenting patterns of conflict and achieve optimal levels of health and fulfillment. * If you would like more information about our marital intensives specific to eating disorders, please contact us. We are scheduling into March 2020.

All trauma, addiction, and relational difficulties arise from the loss of, or disruption in, a person’s core identity. While other treatment programs (talk therapy) focus on symptom management, we see symptoms (conflict in a marriage, for example) as natural reactions to incurred emotional wounds. InterAct’s methods focus on the formation, development and support of the emergent true self. * * * We will be announcing dates for marital intensive programs very soon! Please... message us privately if you would like to be contacted about this program. * * * Also, please visit our website interactcounseling.com to learn more about us. See more

Eating disorders are forms of dissociative and attachment disorders, as well as complex PTSD. Recovery should involve uncovering the developmental stage in which wounding took place - usually by 18 months of age. * * * *...
