Those of us at the Islip Town Fire and EMS Museum are sending out our condolences to the Centereach Fire Dept and the family of Kathy Bassett. She was the current Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary. After speaking to a few members we know from there the one thing that was said by all was that She was a gentle woman that was loved by all.
We here at the Islip Town Fire and Ems museum would like to send out our Condolences out to the Mastic Fire Department and Family of Ex-Fire Commissioner and Life Member Fred Wesemann. Services to be posted when Finalized by Mastic Fire Department.
We at the Islip Town Fire and Ems Museum want to send out our Heart Felt Condolences to the Family and Members of West Sayville Fire Department on the passing of 56 Year member and Ex - Commissioner Jay "Doc" Sayers. West Sayville will post any updates on services since he passed away out of state.
For everyone who has those life members that you feel have nothing to share with you, your wrong. Newsday today in their Act 2 (Page E17), did a nice piece on some of the Islands oldest active members. One of them is one our of members Warren Holtje our Second VP and Ex - Chief of Department of Hauppague Fire Department. So all the young men and women in the departments today should sit and talk to their Life Members and LEARN about all the changes that are in place for their safety from the experiences that they have all seen and lived through. So Thank You Warren and ALL active Life Members. Your time and experiences are appreciated for all you have done to pave the way for all of us.
The museum will be open tomorrow Sunday 4/11 from 10 AM - 3 PM... Come see this vintage 1951 Jeep Willys formerly operated by the Ocean Bay Park FD along with other former Fire Island rigs. These are rigs that are rarely seen by most people once they are in storage! #BackToTheBeach

We have many followers who are collectors of various firefighting items. Below is a video of a remote control vehicle show. It features actual firefighting remote control European fire trucks fighting actual scale model fires. Pretty cool demonstration
With the help of East Brentwood, Central Islip, Commack, West Islip, Bay Shore and Islip Fire Departments, Brentwood Fire Dept was able to make a heroic stop of a raging inferno at 84 St. Peter’s Drive. 3 families were displaced due to this event. Brentwood Legion Ambulance was on scene as well. 2 thing good came out of this situation 1) There were NO reported injuries to Civilians or Responders and 2) a Sixteen Year Old female noticed one of her neighbors was home but not on the front lawn with everyone else, so she ran into the basement of the house where she lived and was able to get the last neighbor out safely. Town and County Fire Marshals are investigating.
It has recently come to our attention that the flyer provided during the wake of our President Emeritus Nick Campson had the incorrect mailing address listed for the museum. For anyone who may have sent a donation in honor of Nick and got it returned by US mail, please note that the correct mailing address is Friends of Islip Town Firefighters at PO Box 674, Sayville, NY 11782. We thank you all for your support in honor of Nick and his legacy being an integral part of our ...museum particularly the long 25+ year journey it took to get to where we are today. Never Forget President Emeritus Nick Campson
Well folks, I hate to announce but Bayshore FD is SOLD OUT of all their trees. If you still need a tree, please consider giving CI Fire Dept or Sayville Fire Dept a shot for a tree

We want to share a awesome piece Steve Stockwell Jr. wrote about the Fire Chief of Pearl Harbor Chief William Benedict. We also want to thank SPAAMFAA for publishing this awesome piece. This is my pride and joy. I have been researching and writing the story of William Benedict, Pearl Harbor Fire Chief for a few years. He is a unlisted Purple Heart recipient as a civilian. This is his story on December 7 1941. Dec. 7 1941...Continue reading
