For the stunning Iris van Herpen Spring/Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection, the Dutch fashion designer collaborated with Parley for the Oceans. Ocean Plastic fabric was made from upcycled marine debris. The collection itself was inspired by Merlin Sheldrake’s novel Entangled Life, which tells the story of how fungi make our worlds, change our minds, and shape our futures. The book's influence on the runway show was undeniable, with designs featuring pleats and hovering ...fins that moved as if they were alive. Of course [couture] clients expect the highest quality out there, so you don’t want to go sustainable if you lower the quality. We are now at a moment where the quality [between an organic silk and a recycled polyester] is completely equal. Now it’s really a matter of decision, it’s not a matter of choosing a quality. After deactivating their Instagram account at the beginning of the year, luxury fashion label Bottega Veneta is launching its own quarterly digital magazine. Designer and Bottega Veneta’s creative director Daniel Lee told The Guardian that the magazine is intended as a more progressive and more thoughtful alternative to Instagram. Showcasing a mix of fashion photography, music, films, artwork and more, the luxury brand will be in full control of the narrative.
