Three Things To Know For Scout Sunday (Patch) 1) Scout Sunday is coming up and for more information about how to celebrate, please follow this link: https://blog.scoutingmagazine.org//everything-you-need-t/. (Scout Sunday is traditionally the Sunday nearest Feb. 8 and can be celebrated any Sunday in February.)... 2) Scout Sunday Patches are available through our Council store - (please note that each year a limited number of these are produced and many times Scouts do not get one because of that limitation.) Coordinate your unit's order and then contact Kim or Mary Lou at the Scout office to place your order before the end of this month. 3) When you choose to buy from our Scout shop, your money stays local.

It’s Pinewood Derby season! This year’s favorite Cub Scout event will look different because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve shared how to host a virtual or socially distant event here. To help you make sure everyone can prepare for your pack or den’s big day, Champ Camp workshops will be online. These workshops demonstrate how to build and decorate cars and how to have a successful event.... Tune into the Scout Shop’s Facebook page for the workshops. The first live event (embedded below) covered how to host a virtual Pinewood Derby. Anthony Berger, the national director of the Cub Scout program, shared how to create an event that is both safe and super-fun. Leaders and parents, this one’s for you to help you feel supported in creating something fun for everyone. https://blog.scoutingmagazine.org//get-ready-for-pinewood/

Justine Aerin Cole of Livonia, N.Y. has earned the highest awards in both GSUSA and BSA. She was instrumental in starting girl troop 5074 in Scouts BSA with the goal and intention of becoming Eagle but soon realized her potential of leading and teaching younger scouts in the first girl troop in Iroquois Trail Council. Her Scouting began in GS as a Daisy in kindergarten and was Ambassador level GS when she earned the Gold Award in her senior year of HS demonstrating that girls... do not have to choose between the two organizations and can benefit, grow and thrive in both. While the structures of the 2 organizations are very different, the ideals are very similar: character development. The main difference is that in GSUSA, troop levels remain within a 2-3 year age range and leadership is developed as the girls mature. In BSA, troops are comprised of Scouts from ages 11 to 18 with the older Scouts lead and teaching the younger. Justine’s Gold project - develop a multi-level curriculum for elementary school students to teach all aspects of the American flag including its origin, proper care, how and when to display, and how to show respect. Justine’s Eagle project - repair and restore the vintage wrought iron fence along the road in front of our local cemetery. Justine's mother and aunt both earned the Gold Award. Both her uncles and her brother are Eagle Scouts. Congrats to our Council’s first female Eagle Scout.
