Sunnyside Restaurant Week kicked off with a market in Bliss Plaza on Oct. 18. The six-hour event featured Japanese cuisine, craft vendors, children’s activities, and live entertainment spearheaded by COBU, an all-female troupe that mixes traditional Japanese Taiko drumming with rhythmic tap dancing. It was a fitting appetizer to the eighth-annual restaurant week, which runs through Oct. 28 this year. Woodside and Sunnyside establishments will serve cuisines from such countries as Colombia, Ecuador, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey, and the United States. Each one will offer a three-course dinner for $25 with some establishments also offering lunch specials or other $25 deals.
