So, I have a light week coming up. I just finished a project, I've got a few small things to do this week and I've got a ton of paperwork, taxes, and organizing to do, but I want to do something nice for someone in need this week. I'd like to take a minute to talk about vetting your contractor/home builder. There are many ways to find out who the "right" contractor is for your project. 1. Ask friends or family who they have used or who they trust. 2. Ask a local materials supplier who they could recommend. (some suppliers refuse to recommend) 3. Look on Angie's list, craigslist, Homewyse, or another internet based site to find local "certified" contractors 4. Try other "word of mouth" avenues like FB.....etc. But really, the best contractor for you, is someone that "you" have built a good working relationship with. That starts with trust, and some baby steps. Just keep in mind, the guy that can fix your faucet, may not be the guy that can build your garage. The "right" contractor may give you a good "vibe" or "get" you. He may understand your plans, and be able to take your ideas, and lead you in a better direction. He may be able to tell you that your ideas aren't cost effective and suggest a more prudent alternative. One thing a good contractor WILL do, is be honest, forthright, sincere and loyal. His word is his bond. I know I'm not the right contractor for every job, and I'm ok with that. I just know that I'm willing to do things that make a good contractor good, and so should anyone you hire. Theres no perfect answer to this scenario, but be smart, ask the right questions, and trust your instincts. Kitchen remodel project in rochester 4/17-6/17

Really Excited for this spring! Working on multiple designs and estimates for 3 new homes, additions, and porches, as well as a full restoration of a waterfront home built in the early 1800's in the Cape.
