16 and 17 year old Dutchess County residents can receive the Pfizer vaccine at a pop-up at the Poughkeepsie City High School tomorrow April 17th from 9am-4pm. A parent or guardian must accompany them. Hundreds of appointments are still available. Eighteen-year-old students and parents of any student in the Poughkeepsie City School District can also sign up.... Please bring ID and insurance information. Insurance is not required to get the vaccine and the appointment is free. https://hipaa.jotform.com/ 211015448290145

Yesterday, I was pleased to present Newburgh Enlarged City School District Superintendent Dr. Roberto Padilla with an Assembly proclamation in honor of his many achievements. In naming Dr. Padilla the 2021 New York State Superintendent of the Year, the NYS Council of School Superintendents is simply recognizing what we in the district knew all along. Dr. Padilla is a person of exceptional leadership who never rests on his laurels and is always asking what he can do next for ...the students and families of his district. As a proud graduate of this district, I couldn’t be more pleased to see it in the capable hands of Dr. Padilla and the NECSD School Board. We were joined outside NECSD offices with Board of Education members Carole Mineo (President), Phillip Howard (Vice-President), and Ramona Burton.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only impacted our physical health, it has also caused an alarming spike in a range of mental health issues. That's why, I was pleased to join my old friend Senator Chuck Schumer at Access: Supports For Living in Newburgh last Friday when he announced $5 billion in federal funding for mental health services in the American Rescue Plan Act. Thank you, Senator!

I am proud to announce my committee assignments for the 2021-22 legislative session. In addition to my previous positions on the Cities, Election Law, Insurance, Local Governments, and Transportation Committees, I will be joining the Labor Committee, where I am eager to put my experience as a workers' compensation lawyer and judge to work. Thanks to Speaker Heastie for his leadership.

I was honored to be sworn-in for the 2021-22 legislative session by my old friend and newly elected Supreme Court Judge E. Loren Williams. I am grateful to have been re-elected by the people of my district. I will work hard every day to be worthy of the trust placed in me. I will work hard on your behalf as we make our way through one of the most challenging periods of our time.

It is with great sorrow over the events at our nation's Capitol last week that I joined with my Assembly colleagues to call on Congress to impeach and remove this dangerous and unrepentant president from office. Allegiance to the Constitution and our nation must come before any one person--even if that person is the sitting President of the United States. I thank my colleague Assemblymember Patricia A. Fahy for organizing this letter and to Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie for his leadership.
