This month, I would like to give thanks to the simple act of kindness. Isn't it wonderful when you step into an elevator or a store and someone says "Good morning!" or "Have a nice day!"? How about when someone holds the door open for you instead of letting it slam into your face? What about when someone helps you when you've dropped something and both of your hands are full? The best are the random acts of kindness, such as a free advice, unexpected coffee & croissant... from my staff in the morning, an upgrade! Then there are messages from my patients that I have been receiving throughout the pandemic, letting me know that they are concerned / thinking of me and my staff. I had a patient recently come in for a visit and before sitting down, she wanted to let me know how upset she was (almost in tears ) about the random violence against Asians. There is so much hatred in the world right now and people are more focused on what they believe was taken from them or what they are missing out of versus what they have. Let's give thanks to our good health, friends and family who support us, food on the table and roof over our heads. Let's try to be kind to each others and remember that it could be so much worse... What was your last act of kindness? I hope you all have an amazing day and rest of your week! See more

This week marks our one year anniversary since we were forced to close the office due to the governor's orders. Since last week, everyone has been reflecting upon this past year and what has transpired...oh how the world looks differently today and how we view the world has changed... There was much turmoil, stress and sleepless days and nights back then, as I scrambled to obtain PPE's, apply for loans and unemployment...the fear of potentially contracting or passing on the ...coronavirus to others, including my family was enough to make me hold my breath anytime I had to leave my apartment. BUT, here we are a year later, still surviving... I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting us throughout these challenging past 12 months. I continue to receive wonderful messages from you, sending us well wishes, good health and hellos. I am grateful to all of you who have returned to my office since the reopening. Seeing you has uplifted our spirits and makes having to go through our daily grueling protocols (and then some) all well worth it! Words can not express our gratitude. Since we have learned more and more about the coronavirus, my anxiety level has gone down and now that the vaccine is available, I do feel more hopeful for the future. With your continued support and optimism, I know that we will endure. We will continue to stay the course, adapt and do our very best to serve your dental needs, as well as the needs of our community. The black and white photo of me was taken by one of my patients, who is a photographer. He wanted to capture "the moment" when he first returned to my office after the reopening. At his last visit, he gifted me the photograph. Thank you George! I would like to close with this quote that I read recently, which seems especially appropriate today: "You never know how capable you are until your passion meets your determination." Sending you virtual hugs! Stay safe. Dr. Youn

Hello! It has been a little while since I had posted anything... the month of February always escapes me and now here we are, March! So this month I would like to express my gratitude towards this amazing city and to everyone who have given me opportunities to become who I am today. ... I came to NYC with the dream of living the NYC life and I didn’t know anyone. Luckily, I met amazing people, who are now my colleagues & friends, who have helped me establish myself in the dental community. I now have the support of a strong staff, who allow me to grow and take chances to fulfill my vision. Most importantly, I have such great patients who share incredible life stories and experiences to brighten my everyday. Your support and trust in us makes all of the difference in the world. You make what we do matter! Thank you!

Happy Halloween! Please consider avoiding certain candies to not only avoid cavities but from breaking teeth! Perhaps consider a fun activity instead, such as food art! Be safe!

Happy Hump Day! I hope you continue to stay safe and are enjoying the last few days of summer. For those of you who subscribe to my weekly e-mail updates, this may be a repeat. If not, this is a follow- up to the NYT article regarding increased incidences in broken teeth related to stress. Dentists have always noted this but with the pandemic, dentists have noted a significant increase in grinding & clenching. Working from home, tight quarters, bored kids, cooking all 3 me...als and more...my patients who were given nightguard or retainers mentioned that the appliances have been a lifesaver. I have also had patients schedule appointments to have ones made or replace lost appliances. There are many ways you can fracture a tooth but main reasons are 1) hairline fractures from years of functioning / eating; 2) chewing ice; 3) eating bad foods - crunchy or hard foods like almonds, jawbreakers and other hard candies; 4) GRINDING & CLENCHING. Sticky and chewy foods can also lift or pull off fillings and crown and unknowingly, if you bite down, you can fracture a tooth. So, if you have been advised of having any of the above mentioned habits and are in need of an appliance, please call us today! It takes only 10 minutes to scan your entire mouth! See you soon! Happy Monday! I hope you were able to enjoy the last weekend in August. Wait, did I just say that? Seriously, where did the summer go? Well, it must be true because US Open tennis just started today and I will be missing it for the second time only, since I moved to NYC....it is an annual tradition that my sister and I have been doing since Y1998! I will have to revert to these photos from last year. I will have to imagine being surrounded by other tennis enthusiasts and im...agine hearing the roars of cheers as our favorite player wins the match point... In observance of Labor Day holiday, our office will be closed on Monday, September 7th. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8th. I certainly hope that you and your family have a wonderful but safe long holiday weekend. Get out there and enjoy what’s left of the summer but please wear a mask!

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you are enjoying the dog days of summer. It’s been an interesting summer so far...going back to work has definitely given me a some sense of normalcy but it sure is not the same! As I reflect upon my summer last year, when I was able to travel to the beach and to the mountains, I can’t help but feel sad. BUT I still have my health and everyone around me is also healthy & safe. I also have a profession that brings me joy, sense of purpose and p...ride. Being a dentist is hard work but I meet amazing people everyday and it allows me to educate and prolong the life & health of my community. I feel grateful always! So here are few photos from my summer last year. I hope it bring you smile and positivity that next summer will be even more fabulous! Be safe!
