This is the Anniversary of my Great Great Grandfather's passing. The Nazis on this Jewish holiday forced him and his Jewish community into the forest nearby to dig their own grave. One of the Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe's writes about him that he goes to the mikvah every day. Snow or summer in White Russia he would cut a hole in the iced over river to dunk in the mikvah every day. May Itche Nachum ben Aaron David (der Shmidt) Epstein's memory be for a blessing and his soul elevated.
