Damn, another year around the the sun! I’m insanely thankful for the people and family in my circle. I’ve grown a ton in the past year, shifting my focus to learning and listening, rather than constantly doing. We have so much room for growth to allow all people to experience equality in this life, and I’m going to continue doing what I can to promote this in year 29. Thanks everyone for the kind wishes! :@grantgulla #music #malevocalist #producer #studio #musician #brooklyn #recordingstudio #gearhead #recordingartist #recording #nyc #newyorkartist #nycmusician #nycrecordingstudios #audio #audioengineer #indie #independentartist #newartist #adama7x

Missing you a little extra today. I’m reminded daily of how much my Dad had such a strong and positive impact on my life. He always will. Happy Father’s Day!

*Continued from previous post* This is impossible to ignore. So white people, I challenge you to say this with me. If you’ve said it before, say it again. I benefit from white privilege. I do not have to be complicit. I can demand the change that is necessary for all humans to be represented and treated equally. Direct racism is a result of systemic racism. We need to start by tackling it above, and work our way down. There is hope that we can treat this terrible disease th...at lives in every single white person (in varying degrees), but progress will not be made until it is self-diagnosed. This may be uncomfortable, but it is necessary. I’ve been doing more research and supporting organizations that have put in the ground work by following, donating and signing petitions. I will link these below and invite everyone who sees this post to tag other organizations and people who are working towards a world without policing, prisons, and prosecutions in their current state. @brooklynbailfund Community Justice Exchange @mvmnt4blklives @reclaimtheblock @blackvisionscollective Emergency Release Fund @unicorn.riot @blackvisionscollective @reclaimtheblock @mnfreedomfund @ibramxk @shaunking #blacklivesmatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd #racialjustice #defundthepolice

Regretfully, I normally keep the heavy topics I’m about to disclose in conversations with friends and family. But this is the problem, and I am publicly holding myself accountable while realizing that I have been complicit. I have not done enough and we (White people) should not remain silent. On social media I’ve been silent in response to the numerous examples of why our current system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up. I’m taking this opportunity to def...ine my stance and share what I’ve learned by refraining from being defensive, and identifying how I have a privilege solely based on the color of my skin. In the same way that Black people are systemically and directly oppressed because of the color of theirs. The only way to change this is to demand it from the people in power, and history has shown us that this is not always done peacefully. We (White people) need to act and challenge ourselves to figure out how we can do more. Here are the facts. Our justice system has committed constant acts of betrayal against humanity. These acts have targeted Black people, often resulting in lives that do not need to be lost. This of course means death, but also includes wrongful convictions and prosecutions. Not to mention the constant fear that every Black person experiences for just living. It is a tragic, direct repercussion of racism first and foremost, but is more specifically the result of a system that was built to oppress Black people. It has been going on for centuries, and was built on the foundation of racism and slavery. There is NO reforming a system that is acting EXACTLY as intended. We need to build towards a better future that represents all of us equally. We (White people) need to stop deflecting with statements such as All Lives Matter and Not all cops are bad. These prolong the issues. It is our (white people’s) responsibility to hold each other accountable and call it out as it is. *Continued in next post* #blacklivesmatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd #racialjustice #defundthepolice

So far, it feels like I’ve been spending the new year dedicating myself to making use of every single nook and cranny in @jasmineburnsidestyles and I’s apartment. We made some much needed updates in the studio and opened up the space to make more sense for a collaborative workflow. Doing the groundwork for a productive 2020! _ #producer #studio #igmusic #musician #trendy #brooklyn #artsy #instaartist #recordingstudio #gearhead #recordingartist #recording #nyc #newyorkartist #nycmusician #nycrecordingstudios #audio #audioengineer #indie #independentartist #musicfanatic #newartist #electricbass
