Joe Allen Restaurant 27.10.2020

Hey hey! Since not everyone can come to us, we're coming to you. You're invited to eavesdrop on our conversation with actor, menu dress pioneer, and AEA Second Vice President Jen Cody. A big shoutout to her for taking the time to give us a few insights into her career and what it's like to be a labor representative in the the middle of a pandemic. https://podcasts.apple.com//cocktails-at-tabl/id1535833833

So today marks our one week re-opening anniversary. Thank you to everyone who's come for a visit, called to make a reservation, or ordered from our website. It's all been incredibly heartwarming to feel the love and see your (masked) faces once again! If you can't make it in, we're bringing you a little bit of that vibe with our second podcast episode, this time with Midtown's most charming chanteur, the emcee of Jim Caruso's Cast Party / Broadway at Birdland, Jim Caruso. W...e discuss how Jim pivoted from on-stage to on-line, his first forays into show biz (spoiler alert: a childhood cabaret act with his mother at the local seafood restaurant,) and a few of his favorite memories at Joe's. Available where you find all your other podcasts or go right to the source-- cocktailsattable7.com.

We told you we might have a surprise up our sleeves, well, here it is! In 1965 Joe Allen opened up the restaurant that bears his name. In 2020, we're talking with a few of the people that helped make Joe's a NYC institution. Give it a spin on your record player or pop it in the ol' 8-track!... We've got stories to tell, guests to interview, and maybe a little dish to dish. Check out the FB page Cocktails at Table 7. Maybe you like Instagram? @cocktails_at_table_seven. We’re seating outdoors when the weather is nice, and indoors at 25% 6 days a week. Give a call after 5PM to make your reservations.

Hello Facebook Friends, Why, yes! We have been rather tight-lipped about what's going on with our re-opening. We apologize for that, but 97% of our energy has gone towards planning and plotting how we're going to make this work. Our meager skeleton crew? We're feeling pretty good. One viewpoint we hope you'll share is this; our re-opening is not the finish line, it's a starting point. It's a marathon, not a sprint....Continue reading

Thursday, October 15th. That’s the date. That’s when we’ll re-open. That’s your October Surprise. Woohoo! Now, we’ve been doing the same thing the same way for more than fifty years and reopening will mean change, at least temporarily. We’re not entirely sure what that will look like, but we’ll let you know as we get closer to the date. We may even have a few surprises on tap.... And of course, the health and safety of our staff, our customers, and our community is paramount, so please know we’ll be strictly adhering to all guidelines set forth by the CDC and the NY Board of Health. We’re not taking our duty lightly. Again, thank you all for your patronage through the years, thank you for the support you so generously showed our staff, and thank you for all your wonderful words. We’ll see you in October.

Hi We’ve been around a long time; 55 years to be exact. Joe opened this restaurant in 1965--so long ago it might as well have been a dream. And throughout all those years, we’ve seen New York City shed it’s skin over and over and over again. As New Yorkers, we know we always persevere, we always reinvent, and we always come back a better version of ourselves. Please know that now is no exception. To everyone saying New York is dead? Yeah, not so much. Think again.... The past year has been absurdly challenging for our small family of restaurants, so we’d like to thank our patrons and long-serving staff for their continued support. Without the loyal and enthusiastic following we’ve amassed over the past half century, we’d surely have closed up shop years ago. So, thank you. All of you. Joe’s has always been a refuge for us theatre misfits; we’ve been witness to illustrious openings and unexpected closings, marriages and memorials, even a few blackouts. We’ve always found our footing in the inherent goodness in the members of our community. When all is said and done, this community, our community, the Broadway Community, leads the fight for what we know is unequivocally just. We always have, and we’ve never been wrong. And we’re not so much a brand as we are a few people with shared ideals; we can’t keep silent anymore. This administration’s willful blindness and abhorrent indifference to the plight of out-of-work and vulnerable American families, People of Color, LBQTIA, small businesses, immigrant families, and everyone’s civil rights is borderline criminal. It must not stand. We know times are tough. We know that feeling of powerlessness is nearly-overwhelming. But there are things we can do: Write your Representative in Congress: https://www.house.gov/representati/find-your-representative Volunteer to become a Poll Worker: https://www.eac.gov/voters/become-poll-worker Support the Independent Restaurant Council: https://www.saverestaurants.com/ Give to an LGBQTIA charity, like : https://www.matthewshepard.org/contribute/ways-to-give/ Support BLM: https://blacklivesmatter.com/ Support The Actor’s Fund: https://actorsfund.org/ Support Immigrant Families: https://www.aclu-wa.org//5-things-you-can-do-fight-immigra Ally yourself with the Post Office: https://mashable.com//how-to-help-united-states-postal-of/ Donate to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ campaign: https://joebiden.com/ Join: https://www.facebook.com/Broadway4Biden/ Joe and his family have always, privately, supported liberal, progressive, and forward-leaning causes. In these turbulent times, we have to take a stand. These are our core beliefs, as a family, as a business, and as a member of this beloved community on which we’ve built our lives. Peace. Love. Action. We’ll see you soon. The JA family.
