I’ve been thinking back on painting walls by the tracks on Sunday mornings to now being commissioned to create large-scale works. It has been a long 20 plus year journey. Sometimes I forget what I’ve painted.. hundreds of thousands of hours, thousands of photos and even more memories pile up. How do you sort them??? . Growing up, parking blocks and skating were pretty much it. Prop one block up on another for rail slides, and it made that dust strewn FDR Highschool parking lot a skate park..(Before we had skate parks) Just another case of the primitive years of #skateboarding we pushed through. #TBT My first real public art show was 2 days before my 24 birthday on a Saturday night at a Space called #actionjackson on Jackson ave in SunnySide Queens..My art was featured along side of Ricky Powell. I didn’t know the name but I knew the iconic images he had shot. It felt great to show alongside of a known artist and that this was a beginning..And sure enough that night I drunkingly negotiated through a conversation with a curator who wanted to take my work around the w...orld, and they did, in a way kick starting this whole art thing I was doing. I’m not sure if I met the @thelazyhustler that night, I don’t remember too much as I was now an artist and the drinks were free. I do remember specifically Ricky not showing up to the closing party as it was on a Sunday and as he put it..SPORTS are on, I don’t leave the house on Sundays ......
