The Undocumented Women’s Fund aims to raise $20,000 this winter to continue our community care work. As a mutual aid project, our objectives are to assess the needs of undocumented women (specially those who are heads of a household) from a gender-aware perspective; tackle barriers to access existing resources;...and provide direct cash grants when no other resources are available. Our auction includes a variety of art forms, including paintings, drawings, pottery, and digital work (which will be printed and offered in physical form). Art auctions not only help us raise funds, but also showcase the amazing talent of supporters and artists. Thus, through this process, we are able to intentionally and meaningfully engage with our cause and our community.

One of the things I love is the colors that pop from the clothesline and the pails by the girl. This was one of those lucky moments that you almost miss but everything breaks right. Last week, I had the opportunity to photograph part of the vanishing beautiful & wild waterfront of NYC. I was given this unique look at often hidden space of NY by my friend @konstancja (see photo number 2) who is the sustainability manager for @twotreesny and someone who’s always trying to give voice to the natural world we have all around us in the five boroughs, when we take the time to appreciate it. The history of NYC’s waters edge is a complicated one we have nearl...y 520 miles of coastline; all of it unique, sometimes rugged, sometimes wild, ALWAYS surprising. Much of the coastline was and remains polluted by New York’s dirty industrial past, but work is under way to change that. It’ll be interesting to see the access that New Yorkers will gain to these sites as the land is reclaimed and rejuvenated. Just over four months ago we began working for Bednark Design at the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We were originally hired to work 10 days; 90 work days and well over 2 million face shields later here we are as we wind down into our final day. ... I didn’t know what to expect upon arriving here; I hadn’t done work of this nature in a long time. It was monotonous, sometimes painstakingly so. The Greenhouse, while spacious and accommodating to this work during COVID times, was too cold early on and way too hot as of late. While the work may have not always kept us entertained, the people I’ve come to call my friends, did. After the camera crews and the politicians left, and the work remained, it was the friendships that kept us coming back each day. It has been a unique experience and hopefully once in a lifetime - Many thanks to Bednark and Duggal for giving me the chance to document this process. Until Further Notice ATOMS shoes, making masks in Brooklyn Navy Yard Last month I got the opportunity to meet the crew @atoms in the @bklynnavyyard. They have converted part of their shoe operation into a mask making endeavor to help support the cause during the pandemic. The masks are made in Korea (where most of the shoe production is done using much the same tech that is used in their shoes) l Then they are packed and shipped from right here in Brooklyn. ... I had the chance to use their mask, and must say it is GREAT. The copper lining makes the masks 99% protective against airborne pathogens yet the masks are light and breathable (an important factor as summer descends upon us). With every purchase a second mask is donated to someone in need.
