Having grown up in a country with predominantly African and Indian heritage, I’ve always been drawn to the textiles of these cultures. Mix that with my background in Design and prints, patterns, and textiles become a go-to source of inspiration for me. When I was asked to photograph this family all I could think about was SARIS! Luckily this mama had the Sari from her baby shower to wrap her beautiful little girl. #wrappedinculture

I’m getting ready to send this gallery out and all I can think is... I wish I lived closer to my family. It’s a strange time for everyone in the world but for those of you lucky enough to have your parents or grandparents close by, please count it as a blessing. I had my son in November 2019 and I’m so grateful that my mother was here for his birth. That my father was able to meet him and that my big brother stopped in NY for one night on a work trip. Otherwise nobody else has been able to meet the new huggable, squishy, giggly addition to the Family. I know our situation isn’t unique or even a big deal considering what else is going on in the world right now. I do think it’s ok to be frustrated and grateful simultaneously. #familyphotography

Once upon a time when I was learning to develop film in the darkroom I said to my friend @bamarentes I wish my pictures could move. He laughed at me and said They can. It’s called video. Then we laughed at my very stupid comment for a long time. If you know me well, you know that every year my husband edits together all of our cell phone videos of my daughter to make an awesome year in review video. Hearing her little voice as she grows and reliving the moments makes m...e cry. Every single time. I cry. Long story short, I’ve been considering shooting little videos for my clients for a long time and this is my first attempt. I’m in no way ready to start offering video as a service, but don’t be surprised if you see more videos from me as I tinker with the process.
