As the year comes to a close and we reflect on the unprecedented challenges of 2020, we would like to thank you for your continued trust and support. Despite the impact of the pandemic, we look back on the year as a positive one for Joseph Law Group. Among other accomplishments, we were delighted to elevate our valued associate John P. Whiteman III to partner status in the firm. We hope you have a safe and joyous holiday season and we look forward to serving you in 2021.
Today, in NYC history... (And proving life can be good, or at least colorful and entertaining, post-divorce!) On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence; that request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that some day he would return to her. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his childhood friend, Oscar Madison. Several years earlier, Madison's wife had thrown him out, requesting that he never return. Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy?
Seeking Associate Attorney Opportunity to join an expanding, highly respected firm that supports and values the professional and personal growth of its attorneys and staff. Must have excellent writing and organizational skills and be able to independently handle a case load while working in a team environment. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include 401K, medical and disability insurance. Please forward resume and cover letter, in PDF format only, to [email protected]. No phone calls, please. All inquiries will be held in strict confidence.
Last month, our lawyers successfully defeated an attempt in Nassau County Family Court by a mother to relocate with the parties’ child to North Carolina. Unfortunately, as the pandemic lingers, and its impact widens, we are seeing an uptick in relocation cases, situations where one parent seeks to leave Long Island. Sadly, many marriages continue to fray, many face uncertainly about their jobs and careers, the cost of living can be significantly less in other states and some may wish to move in with out-of-state family members. In two of the cases in which we have been involved, the custodial parent moved prior to consulting a lawyer. In both cases, this turned out to be a costly error. If you know someone in this situation, please urge them to contact us prior to making any such life-altering decisions.
Great advice to help weather these difficult times: We are living in times when parents need to be flexible with each other, and have to take each other into consideration because a healthy co-parenting relationship is what is in the best interest of all children.
