Judaica of Great Neck

It’s not uncommon for me (and I believe for many people) to feel blessed and powerful and then sad and vulnerable on the same day, sometimes within the same hour or even the same ten minutes! Our lives are a mix of profound joy and also deep disappointments. This Chanukah is highlighting that for me. So many people we know are struggling with health, loss and uncertainty and our hearts break for what we see and feel. At the same time, we have these wonderful pockets of ha...ppiness. We lit the Menorah nightly, the store was Baruch Hashem busy and we had the luxury to spend yesterday at a sports and entertainment complex with the family. Maybe that’s why the concept of a pop of color (like these bright Mezuzahs) has become so popular. It’s the bursts of joy they represent! I took this picture at the @americandream yesterday. Violet is the kind of a woman who you never find yourself making small talk with. I spent my day in Manhattan yesterday and was delighted (and honestly surprised) to find that people were out and Central Park was alive! School kids, musicians and people of all ages were soaking in the Divine gift of warm, sunny weather. And the fall foliage gave it all a fairytale effect. I took along this bright aluminum Menorah by Israeli designer Yair Emanuel because it’s one of my favorites and it blends in to the scenery perfectly.
