Fall is right around the corner...and here at Judge's Quarters B&B you also can smell it We like to shop local- Lewis County has some of the best shops around: Cinnamon Roll pancake (all flour, sugar, baking items found at Nolt's Country Store, Lowville), Custard Scrambled Eggs (Roadside stand in Martinsburg- we serve eggs less than 2 days old), Link Sausage (Croghan Meat Market, Croghan) and of course Lewis County maple syrup! Bressert: oohh- lest we forget the best part of... Fall!!... Apple Pie (apples- Denmark Gardens Apple Orchard, Denmark) with a side of sharp chedder cheese(The Lowville Cheese Store,Lowville)... Our maple syrup comes from the Birchenough Maple Shanty***this shanty is run by our son-in-law and his family- His grandfather was known to say- "Apple pie without cheese is like a hug without a squeeze!" This old, fantastic house. It's 220 years old- and said to be one of the oldest in the Village of Lowville...Many guests ask us how much work did we put into it?...well, we gladly share our adventures- Here is 1- we removed all the hardware (doors, knobs, hinges...) and scrubbed the 200+ paint off to reveal its beauty. *Yes- we have a 200+ year old skeleton key to 1 of the doors.
