SoulShine Saturday: Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Don't let anything stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. Risk being seen in all of your glory. ~ Jim Carrey

Take a look at the burdens you hold. Are they yours? Or did someone hand them to you? Either because they didn’t want to handle them or because they created a situation that made them feel like yours. Here’s the secret: just because you picked them up, it doesn’t mean you have to keep them. You are not responsible for the burdens of the world. No. You really aren’t. ... Evaluate what you are carrying, and then work to let go of what was never yours in the first place.

Sometimes we get into roles with others in our lives that become repetitive. It’s like you have a starring role in Groundhog Day. You have the same arguments, disagreements, and frustrations. You can write the dialogue out almost verbatim because you’ve had it so many times before. Nothing changes. That’s when it’s time to flip the script. Stop playing the same role. That’s the only thing you can change. You can’t change anyone else. Just you. So change how you play it. A...lter your approach. Cease being baited. Refuse to participate in the further degradation of the communication. Add distance when respect and civility disappears or fails to appear. And know yourself above any low blows that are thrown your way. Embrace a new role that plays out with you holding your head up, keeping your integrity, and loving yourself enough to work for healthy relationships, while letting go of the rest. And at the very least, reducing access to your energy that the challenging ones steal.

Frankincense is more than a holiday scent. You can add it to your moisturizer to help with healthy skin and uneven appearance. It can be used in your sacred space for your yoga or meditation practice to guide you to grounding and deep feeling of connection. I’ve also known someone that used it to help with the discomfort of rheumatism. Citronella is more than a mosquito deterrent. Though it is great to wear or diffuse for outdoor activities, camping, and hiking. Many mix it... into sprays and blends for perfumes or body scents. It may also help with muscle spasms and as a mood lifter. Both are in stock now! Contact me directly to purchase, or stop by The Purple Door, as they carry my in-stock oils available for purchase today!

Being in your Power means making choices that feel best for you. It means owning hurt and harm that you cause, and choosing to do different next time. It means standing on your own to build the life you want, and accepting support when you need. And it means recognizing both your strengths and your flaws, and working to reinforce one while overcoming the other. Being in your power never means overpowering another with your beliefs, lessons, or choices. Truly being in your power is when you allow others to be in theirs.

When you continuously wish, and hope, and pray that something will come true or happen and it doesn’t, it’s not going to, at least not the way you are insisting on it. It’s time to open to other options. And to put your energy there.

Being Kind does not mean you need to be a doormat. It means being considerate of where someone else is coming from, showing compassion, and giving respect. When others don’t do those for you, it’s okay to speak up. You deserve kindness too.

Competing starts with comparison. And that means you are focusing more on others than on yourself. Turn your attention and efforts on your life.

Karen Kurchyne, Peace Gardener: Cultivating the Beauty in You 06.09.2020

Have something you want to say to someone that has passed over? Say it. They hear you. You may need a medium to receive a message from your deceased loved ones, but you don’t need a medium to deliver your message. Say it. To the dead, and the living.

Recommended Reading: Gift From the Sea, by Anne Morris Lindbergh. A short 138 pages, written in 1955 as a journal for herself, that later was published for women. She shares her thoughts on life through shells she finds on the beach during a solitary vacation. At times you realize she’s in 1955. And then you find the connection to you here in 2020. I especially found potent the second to last chapter, that completely felt like she was speaking to this very year. And to think it is a book I picked up at a used bookstore on vacation, by the ocean. The second picture is the personal note written to, I assume, whomever received this gift. Thanks Debbie Maclean, whoever and wherever you are. It was very much a little comfort in need.

I’m sorry we had to go through that. Let’s use what we learned for a different future because we deserve better than that. File under the things your inner self has been longing to hear you say.
