Passing on a smile to you today!

The grief you feel is real. Don’t try and pretend it’s not there. When you do this, grief- just like anger, jealousy, despair, and fear- will haunt your dreams... as well as the waking moments when you’re at your weakness. Grief is greedy and asks to be acknowledged. So acknowledge it. Become clear of what you’re grieving right now. Is it the loss of ease in being able to acquire things like toilet paper or eggs? An inability to touch people you need to touch right now? An important rite of life passage- a graduation, wedding, the start of baseball season, the debut of something you worked hard to produce? Is it the loss to illness or death that’s been sitting there all along, and that you try and pretend isn’t effecting you? Name it. Feel it. Scream if you have to. Be honest with someone who cares and wants to help. And find a telehealth therapist for the more complex parts. As you learn to accept grief as a part of life and no longer fear it, you’ll begin to release grief’s hold on you. Only by acknowledging the loss you feel right now can you begin to live free. This stuff is hard. Very hard. But by staring bravely into the hard stuff, you will retake your life and find your way to peace.
