Kid Spanish

It's October and we couldn't be more excited! Halloween is our favorite holiday and this year we are reading La Viejecita Que No Le Tenia Miedo a Nada (The Little Old Lady Who Was not Afraid of Anything). To learn vocabulary, we dressed up as El Espantapajaro Diminuto (tiny scarecrow).

This week in Spanish class we read the story Un Dia De Nieve (a snowy day) by Ezra Jack Keats. We had fun learning new vocabulary by pretending shaving cream was snow then made snow balls out of cooked rice! Yummy!

From birth to 12 years of age is the child's most sensitive period for learning language. Now is the time. Children learn the language best at young ages while learning about the culture and customs of the country, at the same time. This program is open to children from ages 2 to 12 years of age. In the first class children will learn conversational Spanish with the use of songs, weekly authentic literature, which is brought to life through dramatic role playing with costumes..., games, dance, and culture in addition to weekly cooking to help reinforce vocabulary. Students will learn basic and useful Spanish, including colors, numbers, the alphabet using phonics based approach, and be able to understand spoken Spanish commands. As students progress through the course, they will begin to read and write words and naturally translate. Our cooking segment will assist in vocabulary retention and add to the cultural authentic experience of second language learning. See more
