Today is #WorldHealthDay, with the theme of ‘Building a healthier, fairer world.’ The ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted inequalities in societies and healthcare systems around the world, and has widened the gap between rich and poor. For example, almost 75% of all COVID-19 vaccines administered to date have gone to people in just 10 countries. The World Health Organisation has set out four actions it wants to see happen to help build a healthier, fairer world:... Working together More collaboration between government, NGO’s and health leaders to support communities worst affected by health inequalities. Improve data collection Ensure data is collected correctly and focused on identifying communities that need it most and maximizing impact. Tackle root cause of inequality Focus on trying to ensure universal healthcare for all. Act beyond your borders Higher income nations should share resources such as PPE and vaccines with lower income nations. Working hand in hand with vulnerable communities, KCA is committed to helping children and young people reach their potential and live healthier, happier lives. We want to build a fairer and healthier world today and every day

South Africa is home to almost three million orphaned children, many of whom lost their parents to HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. A large number of these children are living in poverty due to unemployment, drugs and substance abuse, with high rates of teenage pregnancy and school dropouts. KCA's local partner Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry is a community-based organization that uses a community outreach approach to identify orphans and vulnerable children in the community. Caregivers conduct home visits, and provide care and support. Ikageng was founded in 2004 by Carol Dyantyi, a well-renowned social entrepreneur, child and women activist in Soweto.

KCA and its community of supporters and partners acted quickly to bring emergency food and supplies to those children and thei...r families who needed it most. Every day, we are inspired by the children we exist for. At KCA, we are grateful that we were able to make such a difference. We couldn't have done it without you
