August 31, 1965 The President Hotel Fire in Long Beach Baldwin Worked the fire for 7 hours 30 minutes My father dropped me off at Headquarters to crew 208, he t...hen responded to Long Beach with Sharon who was pregnant with Beth. Once there he parked the Chiefs Car and Sharon had a ring side seat of the fire. After a few hours I had Sharon taken home by a firefighter returning to Baldwin. Jimmy O'Brien and myself were assigned to an upper floor I think it was the 5th floor and told to force every locked door to check for occupants. We used a Halligan and a Axe to accomplish this.
