Welcome to the official month of no stirrups ( we ride without everyday at Kss while warming up). Now I’ve been a professional for just under 40 years ,catch r...iding , showing and training showjumpers and riders and have extensive training from the greatest horsemen and horsewomen of all time and the one narrative between them is balence and a independent seat. How do I get that you might ask? dropping and picking up the stirrups is a start, then working in slow sit trot, then as you get stronger Rising trot . Then collected canter and false lead canter and then onto hand gallops . After the riders can do the faster work we begin jumping without stirrups ( a must if you compete over fences) mind you it’s not a month to achieve this but part of your work from day to day and month to month . * Highlight is after 2 weeks the stiffness subsides * Each picture describes my position and what is happening. Lauri...e Kendrick tryed and was fitted for all the current air safety vests and just loved the fit and flexibility of the Helite vest. Laurie got to deploy it to she how it felt and you can watch the video. ( this was right next to the jumper warm up ring and no horse was even remotely concerned about the sound)The pictures are from her riding her favorite jumping horse Kss Fra Lippo on Sunday in the vest. Kss was at Harrisburg for the Grand Prix on Saturday!! It sure brings back a flood of memories from my years of competing there from my first time being there a...s a groom in 1980 to all my years thru the 80’s and early 90’s as a professional. Many changes but the the footing is perfect and spacious warm up rings and a second show ring now too! Everything ran smoothly and a happy 75 anniversary to this show!!At last farm’s Nic Nac made his way there on his way to World Cup rider Devin Ryan. We met up with Devin and he was so generous with his time and chatted with us and we met his 2 Grand Prix horses that he was contesting the $100,000 Grand Prix De Penn National with. We also shopped and mingled with some legendary horseman and Horsewomen. We also cked out some of the great HorseVans and Tractor trailers too! A good school for the...m working on being smooth and letting the horse jump up to them. Kss Tuesday- Jump school day for At last farm’s Nic Nac with Maddy Keyes playing jumper rider. We worked thru a gymnastic to warm up and then jumped a nice jum...per course with a combination. They were super! Maddy also schooled At last farm’s London on the flat too! We are busy getting ready for fall competitions and new boarders and training horses /students here at Kss. Kss had a great showing at Engleside ! Champion level 1 jumpers Hannah Rose and Kss Fra Lippo and 5 th in the hunter derby and Bethany Scarlata and At last farm...’s Nic Nac were Champion in level 2 jumpers !! Laurie Kendrick did her magic warming up Kss Fra Lippo and many thanks for all the help from Jennifer Beam-Kresovsky and Elizibith Geiger !! The day went very smoothly and it wasn’t too hot or rainy. Kss- A great day for our riders and horses at the Hasty Hills Derby and jumper show near Buffalo, Ny. Thanks to Hasty hills for putting on a great show with gr...eat courses and competition!! We had At last farm’s Nic Nac with Maddy Keyes up showing in both the Derby and training jumpers with great results a 5 th in the Derby and a 4 th and 5 th in the jumpers! Maddy also showed Laurie Kendrick’s Kss Fra Lippo in the Derby and was 2 Nd and then won both Training jumper classes!! Bethany Bednez put her jumper Emarald pegasus in the Derby and was 4 th!! And in the training jumpers shined and pulled a 3 rd and 4 th! So much progress was made for horses and riders! Many Thanks to Laurie for warming up Phil and the endless help! Also many Thanks to Jennifer Beam-Kresovsky for hoping on Nic for the victory gallop and keeping him loose under saddle in the warm up ring! * A Kss Story* (EACH PICTURE HAS INFO)when I was a young professional just starting out I spent most of my time on the east coast circuit shows. When I got en...ough horses that weren’t catch rides I started renting facilities to teach , train and sell horses from . I needed jumps . So I hodgepodge jumps together , the standard Hay bales , barrels, trees I cut for rails , pallets and such. The first picture of me on the great Jumper Windsong over a jump I first built circa 1986. As you can see it’s a long way from what we have now at Kss. I knew I needed better jumps to prepare young horses and sale horses for the competition ring. So I started building jumps ! Now we have at Kss more then 100 different jumps and endless ability to build anything past or present jump wise for training horses and riders . I feel this is a key to success. We don’t have to do warm up classes and are ready to contend no matter the competition or level. This saves the horses jump and saves the clients money . 95% of the jumps we have I built including the natural banks, ditches and Liverpool’s. In the spring and summer, fall we have our outdoor ring set with about 12-15 fence course and our jump field with around 25 jumps . Please put us on your schooling or training outings . ( bring your trainers too) We’ve had horses Train/ school here that went right to top level shows winning in all 3 rings( hunters, Eq and jumpers) and jumping successfully in the Grand Prix Arena . A super Day for Kss! A great well run show and Derby ! We took all Tb s today. And At last stables Nic -Nac to his very first show. He with Bethany Scarlata wal...ked right in the jumper ring with all the impressive jumps and got champion in the level 1 jumpers and then later got a 5 th in the Hunter Derby !! So proud ! We also brought Kss Isabella ( hasn’t been to a show in years) with Maddy Keyes and she was 2 Nd in the speed class in level 2 jumpers . Valerie Bouley Sprague brought her Roo and were 1 st and 3rd in level 2 jumpers. We had so much help from Laurie Kendrick, Hannah Rose and Adam and Amy Hanssen-Keyes and Virginia Beaton , Joy Liese and Cathy Scarlata. So many thank yous to everyone!! Each picture has more info.
