The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area with heavy snow, sleet and high winds possible from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. Total snow accumulations of 8-14 inches and wind gusts in excess of 50 mph are possible resulting in extremely hazardous travel and the potential for downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. winter storm warning We are monitoring the storm that will impact our area this evening, crews will be on standby throughout the event. Nor'easter snow storm this evening will bring heavy snow and strong winds to our area late this afternoon into Thursday. ... A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect throughout the entire region Tri-State Region. Much of the region will see 8-12 inches of snowfall with areas near NYC and NW seeing 12-18 inches possible. High Winds will also be an issue with winds 20-35mph with gusts up to 50mph possible.

Our Fire Fighters and EMT’s will be making their rounds for some Halloween fun! Our fire trucks will make their way around the Kent Fire District #1 to hand out some Halloween candy! Come out in your best dressed costumes. Make sure to listen for the sirens! Our members will be wearing masks and we encourage everyone to follow the guidelines to ensure a safe and fun time. The Kent Fire District #1 starts from Farmers Mills Rd and Gipsy Trail and extends out west to Fahnestock Park.

At approximately 3pm today The Town of Kent Police and Kent Fire Department were dispatched to a lost person in the woods off of Nimham Rd. Upon arrival, PO Ri...vera, Sgt VanderWoude and Kent FD members entered the woods and K9 Radar was deployed on a track. After several minutes of tracking, the missing person was located and led out of the woods with no injuries. See more

Earlier today at about 9:40 am the Kent Fire Department was dispatched for a vehicle fire on the taconic parkway just north of Route 301 as result of a motor vehicle accident, all occupants were able to eacape with minor injuries. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and cleared the scene by 11:00 am. The Kent Fire Department is 100% volunteer and is constantly looking for new members to join the ranks. We take great pride in our motto neighbors helping neighbors. All training and equipment is provided free of charge. Stop by any Tuesday night at 730pm or Sunday at 10 am, we will be more than happy to answer any questions and provide you with an application. New members are voted in on a monthly basis after passing all necessary background checks.
