If you are over 40, it is time to greatly reduce your consumption of carbs... Insulin is everything! It controls the sugar (glucose) content of our blood, and tells the cells of our body to open to receive this fuel (glucose). The over abundance of carbohydrates (and frequent consumption of foods, yes even snacks) can lead to insulin resistance. This means that the cells of our bodies stop receiving the message to open and absorb this fuel...which leads to an overabundance o...f sugar in the blood... This is the cause of type 2 diabetes, rapid aging, and a host of other diseases and conditions in the body... Pro tip: Eat veggies, fats, and proteins throughout the day...and save your carbs for one meal in the evening (or after weightlifting)... Not only will you minimize the releasing of insulin, but you will also aid the body in creating tryptophan, which creates serotonin, which will help you get a good night's rest. See more
