Kick Punch Om

I have been teaching a new Kick Punch Om class called Kick*It Om in Hoboken. It will restart in April at a studio right near the PATH train. I'm in a networking group in Jersey City called Ignite and they are having a 1-minute pitch contest. The stakes are comparable to LOTTO: the winner gets a free breakfast. While it was nice in the 7-years I competed in Chinese full-contact fighting when I beat someone easily and could relax uninjured thinking I was the king of the world, it was usually the more challenging fights, and even losses, that forced me to face and learn from the parts of me that might have been in the darker regions of my self. What challenges have you had recently? What have you learned from them about yourself? If all you have learned is what a jerk someone else is, you have missed the mark. Pointing the flashlight inside will be of more use...if you want to know your Self.

In Florida visiting parents, two of whom are mine :). Took Zumba this morning with my Mom. Tough workout--but fun! Most of you are not professional kickboxers and yet leave your smiles at the door when you take a class (not mine, we're always smiling and laughing!) Most of you are not professional bicycle racers and yet look like you have a stick up your butts when taking spin class. Same for yoga. Remember, while Buddha said, "Life is suffering" he didn't lose his smile about it!

Kick Punch Om now has classes in Midtown Manhattan and in Jersey City! As the weather gets warmer, I look forward to my yoga Meet-Up group, Yoga Without Walls, starting to offer yoga by donation outside in the parks on the weekends by donation. When are you coming to class??

It's been a little bit since I posted something. How about you provide me with the topic. Tell me what you are interested in regarding the martial arts, yoga, meditation. Share your questions, your topics of interest (relevant, of course) and latest kickboxing or yoga jokes such as: A man walks into a yoga class and sees it is full of women wearing sports bras and exercise pants and thinks disgustingly, "Sluts!" And the moral of the story is: only a gay man can focus on yoga in a yoga class.
