This 1965 MGB-V8 has been in hibernation (off track) for many years, but it has a new aluminum Rover V8 engine that was co-built in the UK and dyno-ed there, before shipment back to the USA. Perhaps, it will return to the track in 2020. :-)
Kim's Import Motors is still in business, the good news. However, we are not accepting new clients as we do the "slow walk" toward retirement. A shame, but there do not seem to be "younger" enthusiasts who would like to learn to work on British sports cars from the 1950s up to 1980 and perhaps take over the business that dates back more than 40 years.' Yes, we have a great facility and client base, but there comes a time to ease out of the business. Not today, but in the near future. Sorry.
Kim is slowly approaching retirement, if the loyal clients will ever let him get there. Imagine if you had to fix your own British sports car. Well, the time might come because there don't seem to be younger guys entering the workforce that know and understand cars from the 1950s and 1960s. So, you better get started reading your owner's manuals. :-)
We have engine adapters for most vintage British sports cars from the 1950s and 1960s including MG, Triumph and others. By appointment only, bring your engine with carburetors to be tested at KIMs. Call to reserve a slot. Pricing for setup and testing once evaluation is done.
KIMs is located in the Town of Florida, NY in an 1850 schoolhouse with attached building where the work is done. The one-room school was converted to a retail shop for parts and a racing museum to depict our SCCA racing passion with our four MGs. :-)
1950 MGTD supercharged at Watkins Glen in 2004 dubbed the "Hogwarts Special."
Tamed Mustang! My 1965 Mustang Hardtop, HIPO 289 tested out as expected for HP and Torque at the rear wheels. Three 2-barrel setup (not the stock 4-barrel) was dealer installed in California. Built at the Ford plant in San Jose, CA in 1964. :-).
Jensen Healey Race Car: Strap it down to the chassis dyno. Fire it up. Move everything in front out of the way and open the door. Move all the cars. Get in and run it though the gears! Kim's Import Motors is ready, so save a place in the cue.
KIMs does mechanical rebuilds and dyno testing of British sports cars (MG, Triumph, Austin Healey, etc.) and American Classics from the 1960s (Mustangs, Firebirds, Cobras, Vettes). Engines, carbs, trannies, rear ends, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical harnesses).
