We'd like to kick off our newest series of "Shout Out Saturdays", by recognizing our director, Dr. Danielle Fraenkel for her most recent contribution to the field of dance/movement therapy. ... Danielle, a.k.a. "Dr. Dance", has teamed up with colleagues in Pune, India Dr. Nikita Mittal. founder and director of Life and Dance and Manisha Sanghavi, director of Sancheti Health Care Academy to spearhead Asia's FIRST master's program in Expressive (dance) Movement Therapy in affiliation with Savitribal Phule Pune University. Dr. Dance's belief that "dance is inherently healing", and that there are elements of dance that cut across all cultures along with the faculty in India's devotion to the work, has led to this pivotal moment for the Dance/Movement Therapy field. Former Kinections student, Dr. Nikita Mittal, began planting the seeds for the program almost as soon as she returned to India. In 2014, she and Danielle began working on dance/movement therapy curricula aimed at integrating the best of the east and the best of the west. Three years later (2017), Sancheti Healthcare Academy in collaboration with Kinections and Life and Dance, launched their 9-month post-graduate DMT certificate program. After another three successful years, the team decided to dream bigger and create history! We are honored to have Dr. Dance's wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to bring "connection, not perfection" to Kinections and around the world.
