Cold weather can exacerbate pain and stiffness of arthritic joint pain and acupuncture can alleviate those conditions without taking drugs. Here is what one patient said: Dear Dr. Lau, Thank you so much for helping me. I suffered from arthritis pain in my right shoulder and left thumb, which I knew my primary doctor couldn’t do anything for, but prescribe a painkiller. I took ibuprofen as well as see my chiropractor for several visits but there... was no relief from the severe pain. I began seeing Dr Lau and felt some relief after my first treatment. After five treatments I felt 80% relief of pain. The week before the first acupuncture treatment I remember describing the pain as feeling as if someone stuck a red-hot poker in my shoulder joint. After only 6 acupuncture sessions, my pain was gone! I went from taking 800 mg. of Ibuprofen three times a day, with very little relief, to taking no ibuprofen at all. With each acupuncture treatment I felt better and better. The treatment of electro-acupuncture is so relaxing and enjoyable. It is amazing to find something that works for me and it is not drugs with harmful side effects! I would definitely recommend trying acupuncture to anyone with arthritis pain. I am so glad I did. Thank you. R. Schoemann See more

the Whole family get help with acupuncture treatments. Here below is the amazing testimony. January 6, 2021 Dear Dr. Lau, Thank you! The care you give to your patients makes a difference in their lives.... You have changed my life. My allergies were so bad, I would not open the house windows Spring through Fall, I would take showers and change my clothes after being outside. I would limit time outside. Allergy shots failed me after trying multiple times over a 20-year span. After the last time of trying shots, my allergist said they could no longer treat me. I was on antibiotics multiple times a year for sinus infections and was doing all I could with medications. After years of debating about acupuncture, I finally gave it a try. The results I have experienced changed my life. During my recent physical, after seeing how acupuncture helped me - my Doctor let me know she recommends acupuncture to other patients who struggle with Western Medicine. Noticing the results I was obtaining from acupuncture, my husband gave it a try and believes you continue to help him. When our daughter was struggling with what ended up being a sciatic issue, we brought her to you. On the drive home, after her first treatment, she said she was already feeling better. After a second treatment, she was better in a week’s time. I just want to say thank you so very much for all you do. We now open our windows, went outside, I didn’t worry about taking a shower and changing my clothes when going inside. Life has changed so much and just gotten so much better. With great appreciation, Jeanette W.

7 Reasons to Volunteer 1) Develop New Skills Gaining skills, knowledge and expertise are common side effects of volunteering. Giving others your time brings you interesting and challenging opportunities that might not come along otherwise. This experience can be added to your resume and could result in a better paying job in the future.... 2) Make Social Connections. Loneliness and boredom are common among retirees, students and transplants to a new city. Volunteering can relieve this sense of social isolations and help you fill empty hours in the day. 3) Give Back to Your Community. Doing something for the community you live in and returning the favor to those who have helped you are strong motivators. Everyone, rich or poor, takes from society and volunteering is one way to show a sense of appreciation. 4) Develop and Grow as a Person. Volunteering is an excellent way to explore your likes and dislikes. If you’re interested in a new career, volunteer in the field first to see if you will actually like it. You may find a totally unrelated field is a much better fit for you, one you’d never consider if you hadn’t volunteered there first. 5) Gain a New Perspective. Life can be hard and when you’re feeling down, your problems can seem insurmountable. Volunteering can offer a new perspective seeing people who are worse off than you are, yet still hanging in there, can help you see your life in a whole new light. 6) Know that You’re Needed. Feeling needed and appreciated are important, and you many not get that appreciation from your paid work or home life where the things you do are expected or taken for granted. When you volunteer, you realize just how much you are truly needed. Meeting people who need your help is a strong incentive to continue people are depending on you. If you don’t do it, who will? 7) Boost Your Self-Esteem. Many volunteers experience a sense of increased self-esteem and greater self-worth. Helping others makes you feel good about yourself, because you’re doing something for someone that they couldn’t do for themselves. Research has shown that the good feelings you experience when helping others may be just as important to your health as exercise and a healthy diet. But it’s the smile from a child or thankful person that shows you’re really making a difference in someone’s life. And that’s the greatest feeling in the world.
