Muscle imbalance can lead to potential injury. Therefore helping an athlete find balance with strength training becomes very important. As simple as a weight shift during a squat or even speaking with @bradyfeliciotto_ we ascertained he has developed some great transverse musculature as a right handed batter. To balance him out we are introducing a similar rotation using the kpulley from @go_exxentric. Here is the caveat, we have him rotate as if he’s a left handed batter. ...With volume training on this fly wheel along with some additional core activities we look to help address what Brady sees and feels for the better! Balance will also help us generate even more force (safely), which should be every athletes goal!

500lbs straight weight x 3 (last year) vs 460lbs at the top x 3 from today (weight+band tension). This is the importance of training ALL SPECIAL STRENGTHS as an athlete. @joepanik has continued to grow his strengths in our 3 years working together. Today he impressed with what should have been 60% with added band tension with velocities near or equal to 1.0m/s. However with this weight and band tension he moved closer to 1.3m/s. Each of these young men came to Lauren and me as freshmen in High School. They all attended different High Schools, even faced off against each other at times. We told them over the last four years Iron sharpens iron. Take this to mean, you have the ability to push each other’s strength by staying focused and giving your individ...ual best effort in everything. Whether it be school work, weight room, on the field, etc. Because of that hard work, that effort and the accountability that each young man treated as the standard, all three of these young men will have the opportunity to continue playing football in college. Consistent hard work from this young man has earned him continuous growth in the weight room as well as First Team honors for football in the Erickson League for his play this past year. We have been asked this question enough that it warrants a written response. The how and why joining an educated strength and conditioning program design matters. The shared photo is out of Mark Rippetoe's 3rd Edition of Practical Programming for Strength Training. TRAINING AGES MATTER. Basically there are three types of athletes in the weight room. The Novice, the Intermediate, and the Advanced. The Novice lifter on ANY program has the highest and quickest rate of musc...ular adaptation. This means that in the short term any one without much weight room experience will grow from being on any type of linear progression program. As the athlete progresses in their time under tension and grow in their training age, more stimulus must be applied for adaptation to occur. To help athletes truly develop their athletic ceiling to be "the roof" they should enter training programs designed on continued success in producing necessary adaptions to the muscles that are used in their sport. Stay general and build movements that grow an athletes force production, big movements being the squat, deadlift, and bench press. Accessories being exercises that minimize the risk of injury while building smaller muscle groups that promote better force production. There is truly a ton of science (physics and chemistry related concepts) that should be considered when dealing with any athlete and trying to design what will yield the greatest growth potential. It is always under our recommendation that you work with a QUALIFIED professional that has learned these concepts and can apply them.

In an effort to bring the best and proven movement science techniques to our athletes and adult fitness members, we are now offering 8, 12, 16, and unlimited training sessions to be completed with in one calendar month of start date. Strength and Conditioning programming should be addressed at a micro level (3-4 weeks of training) and the macro level (i.e. 6 months, 1 year of micro-cycles). These cycles will be the road map to helping our members achieve their ...desired athletic goals. CHOOSE your commitment. How many training sessions YOU can make in a micro-cycle is how we will design YOUR specific program! There are 5 Special Strengths that we program to positively stimulate in our program design. The 5 special strengths are: 1. Absolute Strength (0.1 to 0.35 m/s) 2. Accelerative Strength (0.35 to 0.75 m/s) 3. Strength-Speed (0.75 to 1.0 m/s) 4. Speed-Strength (1.0 to 1.5 m/s) 5. Starting Strength (>1.5 m/s) When you CHOOSE to work with the staff at Kings of Fitness, each micro-cycle you will receive: A movement assessment to find potential muscle imbalances and joint range of motion restrictions Instruction for overactive muscle inhibition (i.e. self mysofascial release, manual muscle manipulation) Mobility instruction VBT (Velocity Based Training) for Special Strengths Accessory programming designed to correct movement patterns inter and intra muscularly Stretching techniques designed to correct joint stability issues Again, in order to give our members the best possible and most effective experience, we must account for the growth of each strength and program specifically for the schedule of each INDIVIDUAL. It needs to be said. Anyone can make you tied - that does NOT qualify that person as a good coach. Today, too many in the fitness industry are in the BUSINESS of TRAINING & forgot (or never knew) how to COACH.... . In an attempt to get more social media hits they bypass fundamental movement skills and instead place in sexy drills & workouts intended to leave you on your back gasping for air. That way of "coaching" only fools consumers into thinking that they're innovative and cool. Money into the pocket over fundamental skills. In doing so, these coaches place athletes in great danger and risk of injury by taking this strategy. . It's time we change this. Coaches, be proactive in the way you train your athletes. Have a WHY behind everything you do. Sure there's a time and place for hard workouts - but that can't be the entirety of your coaching strategy. Tired doesn't always mean good training. . Rant over. Our resident CrossFit athlete Ana Carolina Alves Pinto hit a 20lbs comeback snatch personal best today! (She hit this for 4 singles too.) Life time personal best is next. After being medically cleared to continue overhead movements weeks ago, we are looking strong. We are paying close attention to how her shoulders are moving and have programmed weeks of stability movements prior to moving weight overhead. As her bench press has continued to improve, so has her ability to st...abilize weight overhead. No coincidence there, just movement science and I love it! Spoto Press. This is a 3 rep max bench press variation. George is engaging the movement with his entire body. His feet are firmly planted to the ground so he can produce leg drive into the press. He is contracting his glutes which in turn contracts back musculature giving him a platform to push the weight. Breathing is inhaling during the eccentric movement and exhaling during the concentric movement. George appears to hit all the coaching cues and therefore this movement is pain free. Squat technique. This is a 75% double. Cary is very capable of performing body weight squats to depth which is why he is allowed to progress to barbell work. The first and second squat look different and this is where we work as coaches to give cues that can be helpful for future sets. In this instance on the second rep the barbell has a forward track during the descent and the hips rise faster rather than at the same rate with knee extension during the concentric movement.... This tends to make a squat look more like a good morning. Today I asked Cary to treat each rep like individual reps. Take time to get the correct abdominal pressure and maintain a forward chin (mindful of eye level.)
